Sunpu Castle and Momijiyama Garden - Shizuoka - 駿府城 紅葉山庭園 - 4K Ultra HD
Located in Shizuoka City, Sunpu Castle, also known as Fuchi Castle and on some occasions the “Castle of the Floating Isle” because of its design and surrounding moats. It was supposedly built between 1560 and 1585 by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Burned down in 1653, most of the Sunpu Castle has been rebuilt, including the castle gate and other buildings, but strangely not the Donjon.
Despite being a recent addition to the castle grounds, the Momiji-yama Garden (or Momijiyama Garden) is a nice little garden where you can enjoy a small reproduction of Mt. Fuji surrounded by some tea trees mimicking the tea industry around the iconic mountain. Rather compact the garden is still a pleasant surprise and a nice way for you to get some rest while enjoying some of Shizuoka’s finest green tea!

Momiji-yama garden In Shizuoka 紅葉山庭園
In 2001 Momiji-yama garden open to the public, it is a traditional garden around a large pond whose waters come from a waterfall. It represents also a tiny Mount Fuji surrounded by azaleas with the shape of a tea plantation, Shizuoka's most famous local product.

En el 2001 el jardín Momiji-yama abrió al público, de estilo tradicional alrededor de un gran estanque cuyas aguas provienen de una cascada. Representa también un pequeño Monte Fuji rodeado de azaleas con la forma de una plantación de té, el producto local más famoso de Shizuoka.

駿府公園の周りの桜です。満開直前という感じでした。昨日は駿府公園の中には行っていませんが、今年は花見を楽しむ雰囲気にはなれない方が大半でしょうが、美しい花は人を癒してくれますね。

静岡市中心部の駿府城公園（今月より駿府公園から改称）の満開の桜です。
当日は、静岡まつりの初日でした。こちらは桜と重なる毎年4月初旬の大きな祭りですが、昨年東日本大震災の直後で中止となったため、2年ぶりとなります。
駿府城公園と名前を変えたのですが、門やお堀だけで、城はないわけですが・・・。

Momiji-tei - Japanese Garden, Sagamihara ● 紅葉亭
► Momiji-tei Garden is a traditional Japanese style garden, located in Soubudaimae, Sagamihara City.
It's significantly smaller than its cousins of more famous gardens in Tokyo, such as Rikugien, Kiyosumi & Koishikawa to mention a few. But it has a charm of its own, making it worth a visit. The downside to it is, its pretty inconvenient getting there; a 45 minutes trainride from Shinjuku Station by Odakyu line, followed by a 15 minutes busride, and finally a 15+ minutes walk - depending on your personal cruising speed.
So I only recommended it if you are in Tokyo for a week or longer, otherwise you have to settle with this video of it. - Enjoy!

Shizuoka Sengen Shrine is a collaborative shrine of three different Shinto shrines. So you get to see 3 different shrines and related buildings at one place! Located in Shizuoka city, walking distance from JR Shizuoka station.

Shizuoka Castle - Sunpu 静岡城
Shizuoka castle has long been destroyed, but what remains of it is still quite impressive. Once surrounded by three moats, the middle moat and defensive walls still remain. The entrance gate and a small section of the original defenses have been re-built. Inside, the area once occupied by the actual castle, inside moat, and gardens, now is a very large park. Visiting it and realizing its size really makes me wonder how big and magnificent it must once have been.
