In today’s episode of Cycling Japan, I travel to the Momotaro Shrine (桃太郎神社) in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture (愛知県犬山市). Momotaro is like the equivalent of Superman in Japan. He was born out of a peach with immense super powers which he used to conquer demons with his animal friends. He’s also not wearing any clothes most of the time, which does not seem to be a problem here in Japan, as he can be seen in his full glory at the shrine with his giant statue.
The first part of today’s ride is me riding from Nagakute (near Nagoya) to Inuyama city. Then I stop next to the temple at Momotaro Park (桃太郎公園) for some good bbq, swimming in the Kiso river (木曽川), and some gool ol’ drone flying.
The Momotaro Temple bit starts at the 9:00 timemark, so you can skip to there if you want.
I take a different route home through the mountains and stop by Joukouji Station (定光寺駅) to get some evening shots with the drone, which turned out fantastic!

Momotaro Karakuri Museum
The story of Momotaro (Peach Boy) is one of the most famous legends in Japan, and it takes place in the region around Kurashiki. Although The Momotaro Museum is a museum dedicated to Momotaro, it is not just a museum of artifacts. While there are some old books and Momotaro artwork on display, the museum is also a fun display of optical illusions. The ticket salesperson will walk you through the first floor of the museum and show you the various tricks. It's fun and quite cute!
Hours: 10:00 to 17:00 (extended hours during the summer)
Closed: No closing days
Admission: 600 yen(100yen for a 5 years old or less child)

[Cycling Japan] Road Bike Day Trip to Inuyama Castle From Nagoya
In today's cycling Japan vlog, Thuong and I will be riding road bikes from Nagoya to Inuyama Castle. The distance is short enough to do a day day trip by bike, which is much better than taking the train in my opinion. Unfortunately there is a lot of busy road city riding on the way there, but there are still plenty of beautiful sights along the way. Today's ride was mostly done at a relaxing pace, while taking some nice food breaks along the way with some yummy Japanese food.

The official name of the temple is “Saijo Inari-san Myokyo-ji.” Because torii are symbols of shrines, the torii at Saijo Inari makes this temple a rare example of the religions of ancient Japan. Every year about 3 million people visit this temple, where “Saijoi Kyo-o Daibosatsu,” believed responsible for prosperity in business and good harvests, is worshipped.

犬山市の日本ライン木曽川の沿岸,桃太郎公園の桃太郎神社から犬山遊園駅からへ行くまでに 不老滝とかもありました。
桃太郎神社の浅野祥雲の作品は リアルサイズなので実際に見ると そんなに大きくない、かわいいです。こわくない、すごいかわいい。

A mitad de camino entre Osaka e Hiroshima, sirve de conexión con la isla de Shikkoku al sur, a través del Gran Puente de Seto.
Sus grandes atractivos son el Jardín Korakuen (後楽園), que está considerado como uno de los 3 mejores jardines de todo Japón y el Castillo de Okayama, acabado en el siglo XVI, destruido en la Segunda Guerra Mundial y reconstruido en cemento en el año 1966. Ademas Okayama es sito de la Leyenda y cuento de Momotaro, el niño melocotón.
También pudimos deleitarnos con Grullas Japonesas, animal nacional, admirado y venerado y con una pequeña fiesta de año nuevo llamada Ujo Hatsuyume, con actuaciones, música tradicional y juegos tradicionales, como la peonza japonesa (Koma).

The secret's out... Thuong is no longer my girlfriend, but rather my wife! We actually got married back in February when we arrived back in Japan, and announced it on our facebook and instagram then. If you want more quick and up to date information about us, it's usually best to follow along there, as our YouTube channel is sometimes a bit behind since it takes time to edit videos.

In today's vlog, we ride to the Nagoya Immigration Bureau of Japan to submit her application for her certificate of eligibility, which is the biggest part of her resident visa application. I plan to make a separate video detailing this process for anyone who is interested btw.
It was a beautiful day, with some great warm weather, and it also felt great to finally hand in this application and get one big stress potentially off of our shoulders.

Hiking Japan: Mount Fuji With the Wife 奥さんと一緒に 富士山 を登ってみました！
After finishing her Lake Biwa cycling challenge (150km), Thuong said that for her next challenge, she wanted to hike Mt. Fuji. Before this hike, she never really had any real experience with hiking, but luckily the trails at Mt. Fuji are very friendly for newcomers, with plenty of aid stations along the way.
This video documents our entire trip, from beginning to end, including some basic information about transportation. We went by the JR Tokaido line 東海道線, which was about 4,000 yen one way from Nagoya. There are also direct buses, which are a bit cheaper, and also the shinkansen bullet train, which is more expensive.
