Feeding Monkeys In Africa! | AZROU MOROCCO!
On this day of our exploration in Morocco we travel to Azrou Morocco to feed monkeys on the mountain! We were unsure if we would be able to see any but we ended up finding some! Some very nice locals gave us some fruit and bread to feed them! Afterwards, we were able to visit a local place who cares for children with cerebral palsy and other special needs. We spent a majority of the day there just spending time with the kids and their parents! No matter the language barrier we had the best time! Stay tuned for when we headed back to Fes to have dinner and a show!

Azrou, wild monkeys and cedar forest, Morocco 2019
Only about an hour away from Fez is village of Azrou (Berber: Aẓro, ⴰⵥⵔⵓ, Arabic: أزرو), deep in the Middle Atlas Mountains.
The Cèdre Gouraud Forest is located to the south east, where one of the sub-populations of the Barbary macaque, Macaca sylvanus (called magots) is found. In addition to its rich biodiversity symbolized by the famous cedar forest there are the butterflies which are unique in the world. Monkeys of Morocco. Snow clings to a macaque in the Middle Atlas mountains. Barbary macaques are the only African monkeys that live north of the Sahara, and they're one of the few monkey species to dwell in a cold climate.

MAKING MOROCCAN MONKEY FRIENDS
Watch with your eyes as we get lost in pedestrian filled streets, eat poisoned food, gallop on stallions, feed terrifying monkeys, and get overwhelmed in general by Fez, Morocco. SO EXCITING.

A plan to save 5,000 of the monkeys of Morocco (Zaout) from extinction
The Azzur National Park in Azrou recently hosted a workshop on the protection of the species of barren macaque in Morocco, classified as fragile by the World Union for the Conservation of Nature, in the presence of the associations, experts and hosts of this species.
The workshop, organized by the High Commission for Water, Forestry and Combating Desertification in partnership with the Mrocan Praimim Conservation Foundation, aims to develop a national plan of action for the protection of Barbary macaque monkeys.
Local and international experiments and studies on the evolution of this species and data on its geographical distribution are the basis for the implementation of this program in order to strengthen actions taken in recent years to preserve this species of endangered monkeys.
The National Park of Ifrane, which hosted the workshop, was one of the first national parks to benefit from these measures. It was home to the largest number of macaque monkeys currently estimated at 5,000 monkeys.
