Landslide at Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis, Jurassic Coast
Landslide at Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis, Jurassic Coast, on Feb 11th 2013. Footage by Geoff Townson. This was early on in the fall, and the earliest of the three clips on youtube, starting at 11.45.
The landslide was an ongoing process, without a major significant 'fall' - unlike a rockfall which is normally short, very quick and finished almost straight away. There was a lot of movement early on and this gradually slowed down over a number of hours.
The areas is still likely to be unstable so take care.

Ammonite Lyme Regis
See us at We are fossil collecting along the Jurassic Coast ,searching the beach at low tide for an ammonite!Mike Harrison painstakingly searches the beach to see what the sea has eroded out of the mudslips for him to collect.Under Mike`s tutelage Judith and her partner Roger follow in his footsteps. There are some beautiful 190 million year old ammonites found on this trip in early May 2019, after a bit of stormy weather that had blown in from the East !Mike has saved these fossils from the destruction of the sea, that will take away and erode any fossils, if not found rapidly !.The fossil hunter Mike Harrison once found a five foot Ichthyosaur skull, that can be seen housed in the Lyme Regis Museum .Filmed by Brandon Lennon .If your breaking the correct layered limestone rocks you need safety spectacles and sturdy gloves.

Lyme Regis is a coastal town in West Dorset, England, situated 25 miles west of Dorchester and 25 miles east of Exeter. The town of Lyme Regis lies in Lyme Bay, on the English Channel coast at the Dorset–Devon border. Lyme Regis is nicknamed The Pearl of Dorset.
Lyme Regis is noted for the fossils found in the cliffs and beaches, which are part of the Heritage Coast—known commercially as the Jurassic Coast—a World Heritage Site. The harbour wall, known as The Cobb, features in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, and in The French Lieutenant's Woman, a novel by British writer John Fowles, as well as the 1981 film of the same name, which was partly filmed in Lyme Regis.
Lyme Regis was home to Admiral Sir George Somers, its one-time mayor and parliamentarian. He founded the English colonial settlement of the Somers Isles, better known as Bermuda. Lyme Regis is twinned with St. George's, Bermuda. In July 2015 Lyme Regis was also 'tripled' with Jamestown, Virginia to form the Historic Atlantic Triangle between Lyme, St George's and Jamestown.
Lyme Regis is a coastal town in West Dorset, situated 25 miles west of Dorchester and 25 miles (40 km) east of Exeter. It lies in Lyme Bay, on the English Channel coast at the Dorset-Devon border.
The first record of the Cobb, the town's harbour wall, is in a 1328 document describing it as having been damaged by storms. The Cobb wall provides a breakwater to protect the town from storms and separates Monmouth and Cobb Gate beaches. A building on the Cobb has been converted to house a marine aquarium displaying local fish and marine life from the Jurassic coast. Its primary attraction is Thicklip grey mullet, which have been trained to accept food by hand.
Town Mill, a watermill dating from 1340, has been restored to working order and produces flour. Near the Town Mill on the site of an old chapel dedicated to St Mary & the Holy Spirits, is the Lepers Well. The frontage of the Three Cups Hotel on Broad Street dates from 1807. It is believed that Jane Austen stayed in Hiscott’s Boarding house on the same site in 1804. The Royal Lion Hotel is a former coaching inn, dated to the first decade of the 17th century. It is reputedly haunted; many alleged ectoplasms have been sighted in the corridors and cold spots.

Lyme Regis collapses into sea...Monmouth beach
Watched for about 30 minutes during which a non-stop fall of rock and mud came down. This presumably has been going on for days, if not weeks.
Charmouth Beach
I don't know if I've mentioned, but I like fossils.
I know I have stuff from America still to edit, and trust me, however much you don't like this lack of chronology, I hate it more.

East Beach and Charmouth Cliffs, Lyme Regis, Dorset.
Video of the east beach at Lyme Regis, with views across to Charmouth Cliffs.
Lyme Regis - a complete tour, peak summer.
My local beach of Lyme Regis filmed by me. Video of the fossil area, gardens, promenade, town centre, Cobb, harbour, beach and general views from multiple angles from one side of Lyme to the other.
CAUTION - I always notice the constant erosion of the cliff face changes all the time. My best advice is to check the tide timetable when walking out and beyond the fossil area to avoid being stranded by the sea. Fossils can be found but it helps having a dedicated fossil hunting rock hammer.
On the day of filming is at it's most peak and busiest you'll probably ever see. I personally prefer Lyme Regis in off peak, even winter months myself where you can sometimes have the entire fossil hunting area to yourself. Car parking in peak summer months, especially hot sunny days can be an issue all over Lyme Regis, but there are 2 park & ride zones.
Filmed by TRANCEHI on a Canon XA10 with a Rode Mic. The pan shots are flawless on the original film, Youtube conversion has caused some juddering unfortunately. I also hold the 1080p HD version for other possible projects.
Candles on the Cobb 2018 Lyme Regis
A short video of Candles on the Cobb this evening. Witnessed by a huge crowd of onlookers along the seafront and from the gardens above, this truly moving and spectacular event saw 5,000 candles lit up the iconic Cobb harbour in memory of loved ones. A giant poppy on the sandy beach was illuminated to commemorate the centenary year since the ending of WWI. Despite earlier fears it would not go ahead due to rain and wind, the event proved to be a huge success and a big thank you goes to Rotary Club of Lyme Regis and volunteers for organising the remarkable spectacle. #ILoveLymeRegis
