One more flight up offers two additional bedrooms and a second full bathroom. All of the bathrooms are the perfect amalgamation of simplicity and craft. Rustic Terra cotta tiles in subtle colors juxtaposed with concrete and limestone details offer the best of luxury and simplicity. This house is the perfect example of less is more.

Opened: May 24, 1883
The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City. It connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, spanning the East River. The Brooklyn Bridge has a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m) and a height of 133 ft (40.5 m) above Mean High Water.[b] It is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States and was the world's first steel-wire suspension bridge, as well as the first fixed crossing across the East River.
The Brooklyn Bridge started construction in 1869 and was completed fourteen years later in 1883. It was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and the East River Bridge, but it was later dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge. However, it was not named as such until the city government passed a law to that effect in 1915. Over the years, the Brooklyn Bridge has undergone several reconfigurations; it formerly carried horse-drawn vehicles and elevated railway lines, but now carries vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. Commercial vehicles are banned from the bridge.
Since opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an icon of New York City. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1972. The Brooklyn Bridge is also a New York City designated landmark. .

MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
This walking tour takes you around one of the world’s most vibrant and interesting cities. The City of New York is like a theme park with the theme being; the Big City. The tour will begin in downtown Brooklyn, an area sometimes also called the Civic Center, that is the central business district of Brooklyn, the most populous of New York City’s five boroughs, with its offices and residential buildings; an area alive with life and exuberance.
The tour begins at the Brooklyn Borough Hall, that was the city hall of the City of Brooklyn until 1898. Brooklyn and New York were separate cities until 1898, when they were consolidated into greater New York City, the current five boroughs. Here in the Brooklyn Heights we will pass many interesting landmarks and churches along the way. The tour is essentially a visit to some of Brooklyn’s grandest architectural churches and cathedrals. It will examine closely these churches and how they blend in with the vicinity.
The tour will encompass the US Post Office building before moving on to our first church, the Spencer Memorial Church, which is our first church site, before descending on the tree covered avenue that is home to the tall tower of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Cathedral.
We then descend upon the St Ann and Holy Trinity Church at the corner of Montague and Clinton streets in the heart of the Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood. The tour will then see us look at how the history is so poignant in the tour with a visit to the Brooklyn Historical Society so you can see where some of the documents are held pertaining to Brooklyn’s rich architecture and glory.
Your next stop is the Church of the Savior on Pierrepont Street before you will be present to one of the most romantic spots in New York City that will take your breath away. One-third of a mile long, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade offers a vista of the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline and the majestic Brooklyn Bridge.
Here we will witness the St. George Hotel and the Leverich Towers. A tall 18-storey hotel built during the time of the Great Depression and still standing tall in many more ways today. Next stop is more historical architecture in Plymouth Church where the walk encounters the old Margaret Apartments, a 12-storey high building on Columbia Heights. Here, Jehovah Witnesses were lovingly restoring these apartments when they were tragically burned down in 1980.
We then pass the Brooklyn War Memorial and span the Brooklyn Bridge where the walking tour concludes. lets hope you enjoy this walking tour around Brooklyn, where you will see no fewer than seven churches of architectural splendour, and cross one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.
Panorama water front and Brooklyn Bridge from East River
SUMMARY
This film depicts the East River shoreline and the piers of lower Manhattan starting at about Pier 5 (the New York Central Pier) opposite Broad Street, and extending to the Mallory Line steamship piers just south of Fulton Street and the Brooklyn Bridge. The film begins with shots of canal boats or barges (from the Erie Canal via the Hudson River) docked at and around Coenties Slip [Frame: 0106]. As the film progresses, the New York Produce Exchange located at Bowling Green, Manhattan, with its distinct tower, comes into view in the background [0346]. Between here and the Wall Street ferry, there follows in order of appearance: steam tugs [0308 and 0422], a wooden hull barkentine [1032] with box barges alongside, a docked iron hull sailing ship, probably British [1448], an ocean steamer with yards on the foremast [1748], a derrick lighter laden with barrels docked at the end of a pier [2134], and a fruit steamer [2612]. In the Wall Street Ferry slip (between Piers 15 and 16) there is a Wall St., Manhattan-to-Montague St., Brooklyn, double-ended steam commuter boat [2896]. The ferry is visible immediately before a shot of the large advertising billboards on Pier 16. The film next shows the Ward Line piers (J.E. Ward & Co., New York and Cuba Steamship Co.) [3040], a Pennsylvania Railroad tug [3190], a derrick lighter [3320], and the Mallory Line piers [3692]. A Mallory Line steamer can be seen on the south side of one of the Mallory Piers [3736]. The camera begins panning out into the East River after passing pier 20, catching the fog bell at the end of pier 21 [3922]. A car float is visible passing under the Brooklyn Bridge [4202]. The pan follows the line of the Brooklyn Bridge eastward to Brooklyn Heights, where the Hotel Margaret (tall building in background) is visible just before the end of the film [4464]. This film continues the view begun in the film Sky Scrapers of New York City From the North River. Together they comprise a sweep around the southern tip of Manhattan, from Fulton Street on the Hudson to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Bill De Blasio Sworn In As New Mayor Of New York City
The first Democrat in more than two decades has been sworn in as the new mayor of New York City.
Bill de Blasio took the oath of office outside his home a few minutes into the new year, in line with tradition.
A grander inauguration ceremony will take place later at City Hall, with former US President Bill Clinton administering the oath of office.
Mr de Blasio succeeds billionaire Michael Bloomberg, and has promised to govern with a liberal agenda.
He won November's election by a record margin, contrasting himself with the pro-business Bloomberg years which he said had created a tale of two cities.
Mr Bloomberg is credited with leaving New York a safer, healthier and revitalised place after his 12 years in office. However, critics say his policies have widened the gap between rich and poor.
'Travel together'
Mr de Blasio was joined by his wife Chirlane McCray and their two teenage children outside their home in Brooklyn for the oath of office administered by state attorney Eric Schneiderman.
To everyone, this is the beginning of a road we will travel together, he said after he was sworn in.
The 52-year-old is New York's first Democratic mayor since David Dinkins, who became the city's first black leader in 1993.
He has promised to reverse the city's rising income inequality and end a controversial stop-and-frisk policy which has been criticised for disproportionately targeting black and Hispanic men.
Mr de Blasio worked as an aide to Mr Dinkins when he was mayor and has also worked closely with the Clintons, managing Hillary Clinton's successful 2000 run for the US Senate.
He was elected to New York City Council in 2001, representing his home area of Brooklyn, before becoming public advocate, the city's official watchdog.
His bid for the mayor's job was aided by the implosion of the campaign of former congressman Anthony Weiner.

Governor Cuomo Announces Completion of Superstorm Sandy Recovery Work in Montague Subway Tunnel
September 14, 2014: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo joined Metropolitan Transportation Authority leaders and elected officials from New York City to mark the restoration of normal R subway service between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
On the one-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, New York officials showed some new methods they are
On the one-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, New York officials showcased new methods they are considering to keep water out of the country's largest subway system.
One method is the use of a Resilient Tunnel Plug, also called a bladder by officials. In a demonstration Tuesday (Oct. 29) on a track bed inside a subway tunnel, subway workers filled the 30 foot long tube with air.
In real use, it would be filled with water, and, ideally, would seal off the subway tunnel from storm surge waters. Friction with the wall would keep the tunnel plug from moving.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state agency which runs the New York City subway system, has yet to buy any of the plugs, but is considering them as a way to seal off tunnels, and stairwell openings, places where a custom fit is necessary. They take about 15 minutes to fill with water.
The demonstration was inside South Ferry Subway Station in downtown Manhattan, which was massively damaged by Superstorm Sandy and has yet to reopen.
It will take hundreds of millions of dollars to make the station operational again, says the MTA. Most of the damage was done to the signal equipment that was in one of the rooms of the station.
Before Sandy struck, the city put up boards over the subway stairwell entrances and grates. That failed to keep out the water, and most of the water that got into the subway system was through those stairwells and grates.
This particular entrance is where a breach occurred and construction timber came down onto the South Ferry Station Mezzanine level, said MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast.
After the breach, twenty-seven million gallons of water entered the Montague Street tube, said Prendergast. When you do the engineering fluid dynamic calculations it takes thirty minutes for that to happen. So in thirty minutes we lost the longest underwater tube in the system.
The MTA is targeting those entrances for waterproofing.
The targets it had were the some 540 openings that the subway system has. As the governor stated it's a remarkable feat of engineering to be underground but it provides many challenges for us in terms of what we need to do to waterproof the system, said Prendergast.
The MTA also showed some new subway caps it is considering. To demonstrate how well they work, water was poured on top of the subway cap. If purchased, these would be placed over low-lying subway entrances throughout the city.
No subway trains were damaged by Sandy, the MTA was able to move them all to higher ground before the storm. The subway system was shut down before the storm. Millions of people had to find other ways to commute to work after the storm.
