Places to see in ( Palermo - Italy ) Monte Pellegrino
Mount Pellegrino is a hill facing east on the bay of Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy, located north of the city. It is 606 metres high with panorama views of the city, its surrounding mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
In his book Travels in Italy, Goethe described Monte Pellegrino as the most beautiful promontory in the world. The mountain is home to the sanctuary of Saint Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo.
An interesting trip by public bus to the top of Monte Pellegrino for the scenery on the way up and back - over-looking the city - and visit the Shrine to Saint Rosalia in the cave where she is reputed to have lived and died.
Sensational views of Palermo from this quaint mountain. This Duomo was worth seeing as wll as the cloisters. Much better than Norman Palace. Village was very quaint with nice outdoor cafes. Very pleasant afternoon.

Hello everyone, I'm back again! :) Apologies for not uploading for so long, but we've finally gone on holiday, so I have a few vids to share with you lot :)
This time we went to Sicily, that rock that's being kicked by the Italian boot ;) Had an awesome time, and would love to go back again! In this short video you'll see us hiking up Monte Pellegrino, a well known mountain of Palermo! We visited the Santuario di Santa Rosalia on top of Monte Pellegrino, a beautiful place I must say! It was a mission going up the mountain, trust me, as not only we went up all the way, but we went down the other side towards the most amazing Sicilian beach Mondello. We spent so much time at that beach, and of course came back burned as usual :)
Hope you enjoy this video, and there will be at least 2 more to come, hopefully soon! Let me know what you think, like and subscribe if you want to see more of beautiful Palermo and our snorkelling adventure!

Monte Pellegrino (Palermo, SICILIA)
Il Monte Pellegrino è un promontorio in forma di vera e propria montagna calcarea, alta 609 metri s.l.m., che chiude a Nord il Golfo di Palermo e a Sud il Golfo di Mondello. In epoca antica era conosciuto come Heirkte (Εἱρκτή). Dagli Arabi era chiamato Bel Grin o Gebel Grin (cioè «monte vicino»).

Driving Up To Santa Rosalia Grotto Mount Pellegrino Palermo Sicily Italy. Footage from in front of the tour bus. We were on a cruise ship shore excursion. The views on the way up the mountain were fantastic.
We sail on the MSC Meraviglia, the flagship of the MSC fleet! When launched in July 2017, the MSC Merviglia (at 172,000 GT) was the fourth largest cruise ship in the world, only behind the 3 Oasis-class vessels owned by Royal Caribbean). Meraviglia, in Italain, connotes a feeling of wonder, astonishment and amazement. The ship has Galleria Meraviglia, a 300ft central promenande filled with boutiques, restaurants, and also used for entertainment. It comes with a 5,200 sq feet LED dome - an atmospheric digital sky that animates the Galleria Meraviglia with inspiring sunrises, sunsets, mosiacs, shows and starry night skies. On this 7N cruise out of Genoa, we sailed in the Yacht Club Royal Suite 15008. A truly luxurious experience! #MSCMeraviglia

Italy, Sicily - Climbing Monte Pellegrino in Palermo
Monte Pellegrino, located just 3 km from the noise, hustle and exhaust fumes of #Palermo’s centre, is the green lung of the city and a welcome escape when the urban disquiet becomes too overwhelming.
How rare to find such much beautiful, rugged nature so close to a modern, million city!

Monreale, Monte Pellegrino, Mondello, Sicily , may 2013
The Cathedral of Monreale is the greatest monument of Norman Sicily. The monumental complex, consisting of the Basilica, the monastery and the Royal Palace was built in the twelfth century.
Mount Pellegrino is a hill facing east on the bay of Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy, located north of the city.
It is 606 meters (1,970 ft) high with panorama views of the city, its surrounding mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea. In his book Travels in Italy, Goethe described Monte Pellegrino as the most beautiful promontory in the world. The mountain is home to the sanctuary of Saint Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo.
Mondello is a small town near the city of Palermo in the autonomous region of Sicily in Southern Italy. The beach lies between two cliffs called Monte Gallo and Monte Pellegrino. The town was originally a small fishing village situated on marshland, but at the end of the 19th Century it grew into a center of tourism. The numerous Art Nouveau style villas on the seafront promenade made it one of the epicenters of this artistic movement.

Places to see in ( Palermo - Italy )
Palermo is the capital of the Italian island of Sicily. The 12th-century Palermo Cathedral houses royal tombs, while the huge neoclassical Teatro Massimo is known for opera performances. Also in the center are the Palazzo dei Normanni, a royal palace started in the 9th century, and the Cappella Palatina, with Byzantine mosaics. Busy markets include the central Ballarò street market and the Vucciria, near the port.
Palermo is a city of Southern Italy, the capital of both the autonomous region of Sicily and the Metropolitan City of Palermo. The city is noted for its history, culture, architecture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 2,700 years old. Palermo is located in the northwest of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Palermo lies in a basin, formed by the Papireto, Kemonia and Oreto rivers. The basin was named the Conca d'Oro (the Golden Basin) by the Arabs in the 9th century. The city is surrounded by a mountain range which is named after the city itself. These mountains face the Tyrrhenian Sea. Palermo is home to a natural port and offers excellent views to the sea, especially from Monte Pellegrino.
Palermo currently has an international airport, and a significant underground economy. In fact, for cultural, artistic and economic reasons, Palermo was one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean and is now among the top tourist destinations in both Italy and Europe. It is the main seat of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale. The city is also going through careful redevelopment, preparing to become one of the major cities of the Euro-Mediterranean area. Roman Catholicism is highly important in Palermitano culture. The Patron Saint of Palermo is Santa Rosalia whose Feast Day is celebrated on 15 July. The area attracts significant numbers of tourists each year and is widely known for its colourful fruit, vegetable and fish markets at the heart of Palermo, known as Vucciria, Ballarò and Capo. UNESCO World Heritage Sites include the Palazzo Reale with the Cappella Palatina, the Chiesa di San Giovanni degli Eremiti, the Chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio, the Chiesa di San Cataldo, the Cattedrale di Palermo, the Palazzo della Zisa and the Ponte dell’Ammiraglio. This makes Italy the country with the most UNESCO world heritage sites, and Sicily the region hosting the most within Italy.
