Salinas Wild Things
Video by Elizeth Labega. At Wild Things A. R. Inc. we have adopted many of our animals from situations that were less than ideal for their health and well-being. We have found ways to share them with others on our tours and educational programs that we feel are fun, safe and rewarding to all - especially the animals.

spending two nights camping on a safari... it was AMAZING
Hi friends, welcome to this video.
*Please read the following information regarding this film*
My family and I stayed at a Safari Style B&B! It was incredible! The B&B is an extension of the Monterey Zoo in Salinas, CA called Vision Quest Ranch. The zoo is home to injured and retired animals. The incredible owner of this zoo has adopted all of the animals from other zoos, circuses, and even confiscated one of the cats that was being owned by someone as a pet! (Wild animals DO NOT make for good pets.)
These animals are extremely loved despite the fact that they live in a zoo. The zoo is mostly public, but the tours are guided and you can only freely walk in one section of the zoo for a limited amount of time. Those staying on the property in one of the bungalows, like my family and I just did, are given complimentary breakfast, a morning feeding of the elephants after your breakfast, and a complimentary tour of the zoo. Extra activities would be crunch time which is where you see us feeding the tigers and learning about them.
The tigers we were feeding could not be released into the wild for important reasons that mainly have to do with appearance and survival. The other activity would be putting the elephants to bed.
Every day around 3:30, some of the smaller animals are taken for their daily walks. These walks are done around the larger ranch area, where the bungalows happen to be. Due to this, guest are welcome to witness the walking of the animals and get some educational information on the animals.
All of the money that is put into paying for over night stays or activities all goes to the renovation and up keep on the zoo/ranch.
This place is in a constantly be worked on so that the animals are as comfortable as possible, and people have the opportunity to learn about the endangerment of some of these animals.
After speaking with some of the employees it seems to be a common interest that once the zoo is in the right state of being, they would be very interested in expanding into a program that releases new generations into the wild. Some of the animals here at the zoo are extremely engendered and it is extremely important that we have ambitious people and animal lovers willing to do what these employees talked about doing.
I have no affiliation or ties to the Monterey Zoo. If you would like to know more about the Zoo and Vision Quest Ranch click the link below.
All the information above is from information I gathered from people who work at the zoo.
Educate yourselves on our wildlife, and find ways to prevent promotion of animal cruelty and endangerment.

RV Ban in Salinas, CA Disappointments- California Homeless Union Statewide Organizing Council
Anthony Prince, Legal Counsel for the California Homeless Union Statewide Organizing Council, will join Wes White , Diana Blaylock, and other officers and supporters of the Salinas/Monterey County Homeless Union at a Press Conference regarding the enforcement of the Salinas Ordinance banning RV's on city streets.
As City Attorney Chris Callihan himself warned in his report, courts across the state have found problems with the constitutionality of these ordinances, says Attorney Prince. We will be initiating a campaign of non-violent direct action, civil disobedience and court challenges to resist and repeal this unjust, discriminatory ordinance.
Says White: This is not just about homeless people--it's about how the resources of this City are being wasted to persecute those who simply cannot afford traditional housing. This is domestic terrorism through legalized theft. The cops get paid, the landscaping companies get paid, the tow truck companies get paid, the city and county administration get paid. What pays for it? The personal wealth of HUMAN SUFFERING!! Every tax dollar spent to enrich the people within these entities should go instead to help Salinas residents who are struggling day to day.
The city should be spending that money 'connecting people with services.' Instead, the city would prefer to spend the money on themselves to hurt people, on purpose, because they're ugly. We are going to fight back.
If you think you might soon become an RV theft victim of the state/nation of Salinas/Monterey County, be sure to start to VIDEO EVERY POLICE ENCOUNTER before you actually start talking to them!! You have rights! We need evidence and plaintiffs. Don't let your RV theft go undocumented or unchallenged.
