Montezuma Hot Springs & Great Sand Dunes National Park
Our family took a trip out west and spent time visiting attractions and national parks across several states. In this video we begin by checking out some natural hot springs in Montezuma, New Mexico before ending the day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.
The hot springs are located about six miles north of the town of Las Vegas, NM ( The hot springs were fun and I do recommend them for a short visit if you are in the area. After spending the morning taking a dip in the hot springs and then wading in the river below, we loaded up the car and drove to Santa Fe for lunch. We enjoyed lunch at the Tune-Up Cafe ( and then drove a few hours to the sand dunes.
On the outskirts of the park is a place called the Great Sand Dunes Oasis where we rented one sled and one board ( When we arrived at the Oasis there was only about two hours until the rentals were due back (around 7:30 PM). Although l liked the Oasis fine it was a little disappointing that they did not offer rentals by the hour; rather charged the full day rate of $20 per item.
The dunes were AMAZING and my whole family really enjoyed it! The surrounding mountains were gorgeous, and the dunes themselves seemed other worldly. Hard to believe this is in Colorado, and definitely felt like we were standing in a small corner of the Sahara. If we had to do it over I would have planned to spend more time at the park. One family I spoke to had come out in the morning to spend several hours before taking a break and returning late afternoon.
Enjoy the footage!

Montezuma Castle & Montezuma Well (Leaving Mesa Spirit RV Resort) (77)
We sadly left Mesa Spirit RV Resort but we know that new adventures await us just down the road. We set up camp at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort and set off to explore Montezuma Castle National Monument and Montezuma Well.
The last time we were in the Sedona area we missed this spot and deeply regretted it. Check out the history and ingenuity of the Sinagua tribe.
Why we love the Thousand Trails Zone Pass ($565 USD) with the Trails Collection ($199 USD) upgrade:
Not only can we access the approximately 80 Thousand Trails campgrounds at no extra cost, but we also have access to 107 Encore properties. Only 18 of the Encore properties are premium properties and cost an additional $20/night.
It fits our current lifestyle because we are trying to see as much of the U.S. and Canada as possible this winter. Maybe next year we will try something different but for now, it works well. We estimate that we are paying about $5/night based on the above membership. If you like you can check out the link below to get an additional rebate.
Get out and camp with $100 off a Thousand Trails Camping Pass. You will get $100 off and we will receive a $25 referral fee. All our reviews are 100% honest opinions. Start exploring by clicking this link!

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NM | Relaxing in Hot Springs
We slipped into the hot springs at Riverbend Hot Springs and a feeling of zen slipped over us. The serene music playing, the mountains in the distance, and the feeling of the naturally hot water on a cold winter day combined together for a feeling a pure bliss. Our time in New Mexico was short, but this was one of our favorite stops in the entire trip!
Truth or Consequences is best known for two things. The first is the naturally occurring hot springs, the other is the name. Originally known simply as Hot Springs, the name changed in 1950 to honor the famous NBC radio show of the same name.
There is more to Truth or Consequences than just the hot springs. While small, it's one of New Mexico's most charming towns. The downtown area has restaurants, shops, and a fantastic brewery. Everyone we met and talked to was very friendly and welcoming, which only made our visit even more enjoyable.
Truth or Consequences is the most popular in the colder months, as the demand for hot springs goes down as the weather gets warmer. Located about halfway between Albuquerque, NM and El Paso, TX, it's a popular getaway for those looking to get out of the city and into a more rural part of the state.
