WALES Montgomery - Town, Castle and Town Hill
Formerly the county town of Montgomeryshire, Montgomery is now part of Powys. The 2011 census listed the population at just 1295 people - nonetheless there are a few shops in the square (Broad Street). As well as a convenience store there is a Post Office, chip shop and one or two others. Just one mile inside the border with England it is a quiet and rather sleepy little town, mainly due to being off the beaten track
Those feeling fit can take a shortish if slightly stiff climb to the Castle, or alternatively just use the car (NB: the car park gets locked at around 6pm, so best check before you leave it there!)
From the Castle there is another rather pleasant ramble to the top of Town Hill where the monument is to be found - I think its official name is something like 'County War Memorial'. There are superb views to be found from here. You will however notice that the monument seems designed for some adornment atop of it, and puzzlingly there isn't anything

The 11th Earl of Montgomery as Colonel and Commander of the British 77th Foot Highlanders Regiment
A wonderful and enlightening conversation with the re-enactor portraying the 11th Earl and Chief of the Clan of Montgomery as Colonel and Commander of the British 77th Foot Scottish Highlanders Regiment during Fort Ligonier Days.
He spoke about a number of subjects from military dress to why the Americans ended up winning the War for Independence. He is native to Ligonier but has been a reenactor across the United States for over 30 years.
Thank you sir!
Ugh. Unfortunately my battery died on my camcorder about 2 minutes before we finished talking!! Sorry about that! :-(

This video of Montgomery Castle in Wales begins at Shrewsbury, England, and the castle and train station there. From there you must take a bus to Montgomery. It shows a hardware store and a scene in town, but the main part is of the ruins of the castle which you have to take a narrow steep path up to. The ruins are extensive with plaques of explanation and wonderful views.

Montgomery Castle Timelapse
My first ever attempt at a time lapse.
I was hoping for a nice sunrise to watch but unfortunately it wasn't to be, although I think the changing light still makes this quite a pretty video.
Luckily, a couple of horses turned up to have a wander around below the castle to add a little bit more action to the video!
Shot this with my Nikon D750, with 2 second intervals for a duration of an hour.
The images were shot in RAW format and I did my post processing in Lightroom CC.
The time lapse was then stitched together using Panolapse.

Field Marshal Montgomery at the Paisley British Championships
This is Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band under Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE playing their medley in the Grade One British Championship Competition held on St James Playing Fields in Paisley on 21 May 2016.
The band's medley was:
The Sandpiper, Archie Beag, Bronni's Blue Brozzie, La Baum, Lady Medelina Sinclair, Stirling Castle, Sleepie Maggie, Tail Toddle, Francis Morton's
Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band was placed second overall. Both piping judges ranked them first.
All bands in Grade One had to contend with intrusive announcements from the adjacent competition ring. This should have been sorted out early in the day - but it wasn't.
