The Russian territory consists of about 45% forests. Since ancient times, people have lived in the forests to get what they need. Birch is the most useful tree for Russians. I visited an artist who made a work using wood. The way to draw the picture on the birch bark is the unique method of the example. It is inspired by nature. What I do is to express the story outside. For example, I only painted a few lines. I looked at the works of art. It is a picture mainly of Russian winter scenery. I felt like I was putting the scenery of nature as it is. Yes, she grew up in the woods since she was a child. I have been playing with the tree bark to make a hero in a fairy tale. Her art is said to be a natural habit to get in touch with trees. Birch is a tree that accompanies you all your life. When the child was born, he made toys with birch, and the ladies made ornaments with birch. I also made dishes and tools in my home made from birch. I watched as I was drawing pictures. Use minimal paints with careful look and make use of the pattern of the tree. Birch paintings are said to have been well received as the most picturesque Russian paintings through overseas exhibitions.

The Outlanders : The Forced 6000 Kilometers
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Korean emigration to Russia. Why did these Koreans leave their homeland to live in a foreign country? A third generation Korean Russian Alex Park from Tashkent of Uzbekistan follows the route of Korean Russian diaspora. We revisit the painful history and hardships of Korean Russians.
Korean Russians, another name for Koreans
Alex visits his mother and grandmother in Uzbekistan to listen to their stories about the Korean Russian diaspora. What kind of efforts are Korean Russians making to preserve Korean culture?
Russia′s Maritime Province and Korre people
In 1863, Koreans who emigrated to the Far East Asia in order to escape starvation arrived in Tizinkhe. Since then, Koreans lived in groups around Gaecheok-ri and Amur Bay. However, in the early 1900s, they were forced to move to the remote areas of Vladivostok by the Russian government, and in 1937, they were forced on a month-long journey to move yet again by Stalin′s population transfer policy.
Stalin′s forced migration policy and Korean Russian diaspora of 1937
Grandma Yu Tanya was deported on a freight train in 1937. She tells the stories of the life on the train and Korean Russians′ struggle to survive by farming. Lyan Victor and Kim Yura talk about painful events of how Korean Russian intellects were executed, and painter Ahn Bladmir expresses Korean Russians′ lives through his paintings.
Only a monument stands in Ushtobe to remember the tragedy experienced by Korean Russians. This episode of Arirang Prime looks back at the period of deportation and reminds us that Korean Russians share the same spirit and culture.
Austria: Vienna’s Soviet War Memorial vandalised with red paint
Unknown vandals left the Soviet War Memorial in the centre of Vienna smeared with red paint, Monday. The facade of the memorial was blotched with paint, which covered its golden inscriptions of Soviet leader Josef Stalin's orders to capture Vienna, ahead of its liberation from Nazi Germany in April 1945.
The Russian Embassy in Austria urged the Austrian authorities to take all measures necessary to protect the memorial, which was previously vandalised in 2015.
The construction, which commemorates the 17,000 Soviet war dead who died capturing the city, was completed on August 19, 1945.

Soviet Monuments Dismantled in Chernihiv: Ukrainian activists reject Communist legacy
Ukrainian activists in Chernihiv have dismantled two Soviet monuments as part of ongoing efforts to remove lingering traces of the Communist past from Ukraine's public spaces. The two monuments which were taken down honoured Soviet-era figures connected to the Bolshevik siezure of Ukraine. Chernihiv activists said that the the figures were both tied to the 1918 Battle of Kruty, in which hundreds of Ukrainian students died near Kyiv in an attempt to resist a Bolshevik advance on the Ukrainian capital city.

Russians Mourn 500,000 Buried in Mass Grave of Leningrad Siege | The Moscow Times
Russia marked the 76th anniversary of the Siege of Leningrad on Monday, Jan. 27.
Mourners brought flowers to the Piskaryovskoye Cemetary, a mass grave where up to 500,000 victims of the siege are buried.
Nazi troops encircled Leningrad – now St. Petersburg — for 872 days between 1941 and 1944, cutting of the city’s residents from transport routes.
Up to 1 million people died during the blockade from hunger, disease and enemy shelling.

HILARIOUS: Vladimir Zhirinovsky discusses the status of the Russian language with Putin
This video should be of interest to people who are very knowledgeable about Russian literature, language and culture. For the others we provided remarks to help them out understand people and events mentioned in Zhirinovsky's speech.
Russian politician Zhirinovsky spoke at the Federation Council about what everyone should do to protect Russian language from borrowing too many foreign words, when there are pure Russian alternatives.
Aired live on RT on: 24/12/2014
Many thans for translation and description to Zahinho
Remarks:
1. ‘’Dead souls’’ (1842), by Nikolai Gogol. Now, don’t get too excited about this. This is not some horror story with dead rising from their graves. This is a novel of Gogol, which basically shows some fraudster, who goes around, buying documents of peasants who already died, for cheap, to re-sell to others as living, to make money. You can read the English translation, and download it for free here (considered public domain):
Or read more information about it on WP page:
2. ‘’Woe from wit’’ (1823), by Alexander Griboyedov. I haven’t read it, nor saw the play (maybe I did, but I don’t remember). I don’t know what’s it about. You can read the actual play here, although idk if you will understand anything:
Or read more information about it:
3. ‘’Mumu’’ (1852), by Ivan Turgenev. So, this is a short story everyone is talking about. Shortly… It’s about a deaf and mute serf yardman – Gerasim, who was working at some rich noble woman, and who had nobody, but this 1 little dog that was constantly barking. So, cuz he was deaf, he didn’t mind, but the woman at some point got tired of it, and told him to get rid of it. So he went on a boat and drowned it.
The ‘’official’’ morale and explanation of the story, which Zhirinovsky doubts, is to show the cruelty of rich people towards poor and miserable.
You can read it translated here:
4. If you don’t know who Vasilyeva is. She’s this middle age bitch, who was involved in corruption case in defense ministry. They, together with this fat corrupted defense minister Serdyukov stole billions in defense contracts, if not trillions. Vasilyeva got 3 years or something, but it doesn’t matter now, cuz she went to prison for 2 months, and now she’s free. Serdyukov got released, didn’t served any time. It’s Russia for you, guys. The more you steal, the less time you do. Paradox? Consistent pattern? Pick your poison.
If you wanna read more about these 2 turds (not that you would want to), here is WP pages:
Serdyukov:
h
Vasileva (no English WP page, only this ‘’New York Times’’ article:
5. Read more about Mayakovsky here:
No English WP page about Vishnevsky. Shortly, he is a poet.
6. Read more about Nikolai Rubtsov here:
Read more about Sergei Yesenin here:
I just wanna point out, that Yesenin is a very very good poet. I’m a huge admirer of his work. It’s such an easy read, and extremely clever play of words. Unfortunately, you can’t fully understand it, unless you can speak fluent Russian. I don’t know how would they translate him to English, but if you can find any translations, I highly recommend it.
7. Medinsky is the minister of culture. Livanov - there are 3 Livanovs. All of them are related to theater, cinema, writing, etc. Idk who Z is referring to.
8.In Soviet Union, a 5 grade system was introduced in all schools and universities. But in reality, it was 4 grade system. 2 - fail, 3 - pass, 4 - high pass, 5 - perfect.
9. As you can already tell, these words are written with a hyphen, after a word you want, and before these words guy asked him about. In particular: ...-
Kolyma - Birthplace of Our Fear
