DAGESTAN - WikiVidi Documentary
Dagestan , officially the Republic of Dagestan , is a federal subject of Russia, located in the North Caucasus region. Its capital and largest city is Makhachkala, centrally located on the Caspian Sea coast. With a population of 2,910,249, Dagestan is very ethnically diverse and Russia's most heterogeneous republic, with the largest ethnicity constituting less than 30% of the population. Largest among the ethnicities are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgian, Laks, Azerbaijani, Tabasaran, and Chechen. Ethnic Russians comprise about 3.6% of Dagestan's total population. Russian is the primary official language and the lingua franca among the ethnicities. Dagestan has been a scene of Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, and ethnic tension since the 1990s. According to the International Crisis Group, the militant Islamist organization Shariat Jamaat is responsible for much of the violence. Much of the tension is rooted in an internal Islamic conflict between traditional ...

Russian politics. ''Duel'' talk show. Zhirinovsky vs Raihelgauz. ''Gorbachev'' (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
One more episode of ''Duel'' talk show with Vladimir Zhirinovsky participating.
This time he is going against Iosif Raihelgauz, some movie and theater director I've never heard before. The subject of this show is: Michail Gorbachev, and the role he played, mainly in the collapse of the Soviet Union, but also about good and bad things he had done.
For Zhirinovsky, this subject is almost as painful as October Revolution of 1917. So, he is like usual using his style. I gotta say, that he have been on this show for so many times, his experience really counts. One of Raihelgauz's supporters made him angry, talking about things Zhirinovsky tired of hearing of, and when Zhirinovsky responds to him, you can see that his hands were actually shaking! Raihelgauz, on the other hand, seeing that he's losing, at one moment I think he was ready to start crying. But of course he is no match. I think Zhirinovsky even realized it and backed down a little.
The arbitrator was some historian that repeated everything twice for some reason. He reminded me Johny ''Two Times'' from ''Goodfellas'' - ''I'm gonna get the paper get the paper'' lol.
Well... And Soloviev as always in his style.
Oh, and keep your hand on ''Pause'' button. They often talk at the same time, so you might need a moment to read everything.
This show was aired live on 30/05/2013.
Enjoy!
Thanks for watching!

Russian politics. ''Duel'' talk show. Zhirinovsky vs Bortko. ''Revolution of 1917'' (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
RECOMMENDED to read the description first.
This is a political talk show ''Duel'', where Zhirinovsky argues with Bortko about the October revolution of 1917.
This Bortko character is just talking gibberish. Sometimes I don't understand at all what he's saying. If a phrase doesn't make sence to you, that means, I couldn't figure it out myself, and I wrote the way I heard it. It doesn't make any sence. Just freaking nonesence.
This was a hard translation, because many times people talking at the same time. But I triend to translate more interesting, in my opinion, lines. I tried to translate more of Zhirinovsky, and not the others.
Don't mind the counter. It's not valid. I haven't see 2 videos of this show which had the same counter. In reality, Bortko won with about 2.000-3.000 votes (I might be mistaking of course).

AVARS (CAUCASUS) - WikiVidi Documentary
The Avars are a Northeast Caucasian native ethnic group who are the predominant of several ethnic groups living in the Russian republic of Dagestan. The Avars reside in a region known as the North Caucasus between the Black and Caspian Seas. Alongside other ethnic groups in the North Caucasus region, the Caucasian Avars live in ancient villages located approximately 2,000 m above sea level. The Avar language spoken by the Caucasian Avars belongs to the family of Northeast Caucasian languages and is also known as Nakh–Dagestanian. Islam has been the prevailing religion of the Avars since the 13th century. The Avar Khaganate had become their peak empire until a disastrous war with the First Bulgarian Empire. This catastrophe, led by Bulgarian Emperor Krum and his invincible army, forced the total destruction and east migration of the Avar empire and people....

Much of the tension is rooted in an internal Islamic conflict between traditional Sufi groups advocating secular government and more recently introduced Salafist teachers preaching the implementation of a certain form of Sharia in Dagestan. Its government was dissolved in a major corruption investigation on 5 February 2018, and the region has since been under the direct control of the Russian government.
