2 hour hard trekking we were in the heaven..
We took at auto from Kollur to Belkal village and started the trek... it was raining all along :), which made the trek more amazing

Kolluru or Kollur is a small temple-town in Kundapur Taluk in Udupi district of Karnataka state, India. It is situated about 38 km from Kundapur town. This village lies at the foot of the Western Ghats and is famous for the Mookambika temple, a Hindu pilgrim center.
Kollur also called Kollapura one of the important places of pilgrimage in Karnataka State, which has a temple dedicated to supreme goddess Mookambika or Durga devi .
The goddess Durga is called Mookambika as she is said to have slain the demon Mookasura. The goddess is described as in the form of a jyotirlinga incorporating both Shiva and Shakti. The panchaloha image of the goddess on Shri Chakra is stated to have been consecrated by Shri Adi Shankaracharya. The Divine Mother is said to be a manifestation of trigunas or triple forms such as Mahakali, Mahalakshmi & Mahasaraswati. The shikhara of the temple which is well gilded with gold is said to have been donated by Sankanna Savantha. Around the chief shrine of Mookambika, there are many other shrines.
The idol of Chandramaulishvara is said to have been installed by Shri Adi Shankara. The temple has been renovated by Keladi rulers. The temple of Mookambika and other shrines attract a large number of pilgrims from other states too.

“Teertha” is a Hindi word for holy place. Belkal Teertha is located in verdant forest surrounding of Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. It is also known by name Govinda Teertha. Located deep in Western Ghat,.
Belkal Theertha’s water falls from a mountain named Korshi Betta. This mountain is an extension of Kodachadri. The Belkal Teertha is surrounded by a lush green environment that awes anyone with its luxuriant natural beauty.
It is about 81 km from Udupi. Cascading waterfalls, located deep in the Western Ghats. This falls is about 500 feet and there will be no water during Feb-May.
The Belkal Theertha Waterfall lies near Kollur and Madur and it is situated in the lush green forests of Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The waterfall is also called as Govinda Theertha. The water is falling 500 feet down from a mountain called Korshi Betta, which is an extension of Kodachadri. It is believed that the water of this waterfall is sacred and people come here to take a holy dip.

Souparnika River or Sowparnika nadi is a river flowing through Kundapur taluk in Karnataka, India. It joins with the Varahi River, Kedaka River, Chakra River, and Kubja River known as Panchagangavali river and merges into the Arabian Sea. It flows near Mookambika temple, Kollur hence sometimes known as Kolluru nadi and is considered holy river by devotees of the temple.
It is believed that Garuda (eagle) called Suparna performed penance on the banks of the river and attained salvation thus the name become Souparnika. It is also believed that river absorbs the elements of 64 different medicinal plants and roots as it flows, therefore it cures diseases of those who bath in it.

Kodachadri (Kudajadri) is a mountain peak with dense forests (elevation - 1,343 metres above sea level) in the Western Ghats in South India (Shivamogga Dist., Karnataka State). It is declared as natural heritage site by Government Karnataka.and it is 10th highest peak of Karnataka.
