Moomba is the biggest festival in Australia. The Melbourne Moomba Festival is held annually in the city of Melbourne, Australia.
Moomba is Australia's biggest free community festival. It is celebreated over 4 days, during the Australian Labourn Day long weekend, from Friday to Monday.
This festival attracts up to 1 million people per year. With a record of 1.7 million attendance in 1996.
It is a family fun filled festival, so teh whole family can enjoy.
Over the years, the festival has expanded over two sides of the Yarra River.
I can't remember the last time I was at the Melbourne Moomba Festival, but I really enjoyed it.
It was a lot of fun, there were lots of rides, games and people around. Which is always great to see.
This is probably my favourite festival in Melbourne, Australia. Just because it's such a big festival, there's no entrance fee, and it's set in the beautiful backdrop of the city of Melbourne.
If you happen to be in Melbourne, Australia, during the start of March, be sure to check out the Melbourne Moomba Festival. You will surly enjoy the atmosphere.

(MOOMBA PARADE 2019) - (MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA) (VXF1)
Since 1955, the Moomba Parade has captured the hearts and imaginations of Melburnians, bringing to life the vitality and energy of the beloved festival.
The parade features dance troupes and community groups as well as the larger-than-life floats, which were designed by children.
The parade is officially opened with a Welcome to Country address by the Wurundjeri Tribe.
It's big colourful and fun. And it's all free.
Moomba Monarchs 2019
2019 king and queen (oops) monarchs: Archie Thompson and Jane Bunn
The crowning of the Moomba Monarchs is one of the festival's most iconic ceremonial traditions.
Over the years, the Moomba Monarchs, who reign over the parade, have included the likes of Bert Newton, Dame Edna and Molly Meldrum, as well as sporting and community heroes such as Cathy Freeman, and Stevie and Michelle Payne.

Moomba also known as the (Moomba Festival) is held annually in Melbourne 2019, Australia. Run by the City of Melbourne 2019, it is Australia's largest free community festival[1]. The Melbournian tradition is celebrated over four days, incorporating the Labour Day long weekend, from Friday to the second Monday in March. Moomba is culturally important to (Melbourne), having been celebrated since 1955, and regularly attracts up to a million people, with a record attendance of 1.7 million set in 1996.
In 2003, the event was renamed (Melbourne Moomba) Waterfest and is centred on the Yarra River.
Traditional events include the (Moomba) parade, crowning of Moomba monarchs, fireworks displays, carnivals in the gardens along the river, river activities including watersports, water floats and the birdman rally, as well as live music and bands.
The first Moomba was a 15-day festival officially opened on 12 March 1955 by the State Governor, Sir Dallas Brooks. The inaugural programme included a fireworks display, parade, vintage car display, Henley rowing regatta, river floats including a Lord Mayor's houseboat, cycling race, tennis at Kooyong, concerts including performances by the Victorian Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic choir, crowning of the Queen of Moomba and riverside carnival. 25,000 turned out to watch the inaugural Moomba parade down Swanston Street

Moomba Festival | Top Things to do in Melbourne Australia
Moomba is Melbourne’s best festival, held over the Labour Day long weekend (in March) every year on the banks of the Yarra River. It is free to enter. In this video I give a quick guide to the Moomba Festival and if you like to find out more, I’ve listed some great websites to check out.
Some of the most popular things to do during the festival revolve around the Yarra River. Here you can watch water sports such as the jet skiing, wakeboarding, jumps and the ever famous bird man rally. At night of course there are the famous Moomba fireworks that start at 9.30 PM.
Moomba Rides.
From heart stopping adrenaline ride to more family friendly ones such as the Ferris wheel and merry go round. The good old dodgem cars are pretty popular as well. For prices of the rides check out the video I give some samples. There are heaps of rides at Moomba to keep everyone happy.
Not only that, there are plenty of games to play and prizes to win.
Food
There are plenty of food vans to eat at Moomba with all different types of food. As you would expect though, it’s pricey.

For a great family friendly event, Melbourne’s Moomba Festival is a fantastic thing to do in Melbourne. I thoroughly recommend it.

On the occasion of the Labour Day, we took part in one of the most colorful and lively festivals of Melbourne. It's called Moomba Festival, it lasts 3-4 days and offers a diverse programme, full of interesting events. If you visit Melbourne in march you MUST go to Moomba, it turns to be a true experience!

This is a short film of the Moomba Festival 2019 which I created. I tried to focus more on the family aspect of the Moomba Festival. This Free Community Festival is held annually in Melbourne, Australia. Run by the City of Melbourne, it is Australia's largest free community festival.
I did not have any fancy gear, I only had my Nikon D600 camera with a 50mm Lense f1.4 all hand held, while enjoying the beautiful moments with my family, I was capturing some footage.

We then grabbed a map and a bite to eat and sat down to listen to musicians on the stage - Maracatu Estrela Do Mar which is an Afro-Brazilian percussion band and Seducaphones - an eight-piece Balkan brass band.
There were heaps of rides and games to play and we eventually ended up at Boxwars, a cardboard themed stall where you can create and customize your own set of weapons and armor made entirely of cardboard - Great fun for the kids.
After dinner in the city, we headed back to the Yarra River to watch the fireworks display and then called it a night.

The Melbourne Moomba Festival really showcases the city of Melbourne really well.
It's just set in the backdrop of Melbourne city.
It was a nice day and it was good to see everyone out and about. People of all ages, ethnicity, and backgrounds. That's what makes Melbourne so awesome.
I can see why it was voted as the #1 most livable city in the world.
The Moomba festival is a family fun festival, span over 2 sides of the Yarra River.
This side is much bigger and seems to cater more towards the kids.
Whereas the other side has bigger, but not as many rides, due to the lack of space.
I would say this is the main side of the festival.
I hope this gave you a good idea of what festival in Melbourne, Australia is like.
