York - Hymn - The Moore Museum's Dominion Reed Organ
York is a common hymn tune used with various texts. The text setting I am using here is from an early Presbyterian hymn book originating from the 1615 Scottish Psalter - which is suited for this 1881 Dominion organ because it was first installed in a Presbyterian church (Mount Zion, Ridgetown Ontario) in 1881.
This organ has just had a major restoration/rebuild, and it is singing once again after many years of silence.
For more information on the restoration of this organ, visit rodneyjantzi.com
Allegretto - Hugh Blair - Dominion Organ
This piece is called Allegretto, from the book of 12 Short Voluntaries for Organ, American Organ or Harmonium by Hugh Blair, published in 1909.
Born in Worcester in 1864, Hugh Blair was the son of Rev. Robert Hugh Blair, who founded Worcester College for the Blind in 1866. A chorister at Worcester Cathedral and a pupil at The King's School, Worcester, Blair was organ scholar at Christ's College, Cambridge. He was Organist of Worcester Cathedral from 1895 to 1897, having been Acting Organist before that time.
The instrument is a reed organ, made by the Dominion Organ Company in Bowmanville Ontario Canada in 1881. Prior to this video, the final touches of a major restoration were just finished, which had taken place from October 2015 to January 2016 (visit for restoration pictures). It belongs to the Moore Museum in Mooretown, Ontario - Visit for more information and be sure to visit this organ!
Angel Voices - E.G. Monk - Dominion Reed Organ
This hymn tune called Angel Voices was composed by Edwin George Monk, who lived from 1819-1900. The text that is set to is was written by Francis Pott (1832-1909). The hymn is commonly found in the Presbyterian or Episcopal Church hymn books. The first verse is:
Angel voices, ever singing
Round Thy throne of light,
Angel harps, for ever ringing,
Rest not day nor night;
Thousands only live to bless Thee,
And confess Thee
Lord of might.
Played on a Dominion reed organ, made in Bowmanville Ontario 135 years ago from this time of the recording - January 1881. The organ has just finished an internal restoration after many years of silence. It belongs to the Moore Museum in Mooretown, Ontario.
May It Be on a pump organ...
From LOTR, one might not expect a tune like this on a 135 year old pump organ, but why not. This is one of the ways I spend my Saturday afternoons, to play all kinds of music on these wonderful old instruments... There is another LOTR sample at:
This reed organ was made by the Dominion Organ Co. in Bowmanville, Ontario Canada in 1881, and recently restored for the Moore Museum, Mooretown Ontario.

St. George's Edinburgh - Hymn - Dominion Organ
New Restoration! visit: for details.
This reed organ (also known as pump organ), was made by the Dominion Organ Company in Bowmanville Ontario Canada It was originally purchased in 1881 by the Presbyterian church in Ridgetown, Ontario, who used it for 18 years. Around 1899, the organ was then sold to the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Mooretown for $100. It was used to lead the music at the church for the next 50 years in Mooretown, but by the 1950s the organ became too difficult to pump.
In February of 1964, the organ was placed on loan to the Oil Springs Museum. In 1975, the organ was brought back to Mooretown and has been at the Moore Museum ever since. While the organ has been at the museum, there have been various attempts to get it to sound again, but it still could not get the wind needed to display the organ at its full potential.
Prior to this video, the final touches of a major restoration were just completed, which had taken place from October 2015 to January 2015.
The music played is from the Presbyterian hymnal, The Book of Praise, published in 1918. The Psalms at the front of the hymnal are basically the same Psalms that would have been sung at the church when it was first installed in 1881. The tune is St. George's Edinburgh, composed by Andrew Mitchell Thomson (1778-1831).
Maroon town School out forsummer! top-quality
All are happy Maroon Town Don Drummond. The name Maroon Town is taken from a remote upland community in Jamaica, formed by runaway slaves, the maroons.

Where Freedom Lies
The plot of my short story, Where Freedom Lies is about a young girl named Anna that is born into slavery on a plantation in Jamaica with her parents; living close to a rebellious former slave group called the Maroons. Anna escapes the plantation with her parents led by the famous Queen Nancy of Maroons.
The British being afraid of the increasing freed Jamaicans decided to send them away to Nova Scotia. Losing her mother on the passage and not long after her father to Smallpox; Anna goes against all adds when she returns to her parents homeland. An abolitionist by the name of John Clarkson convinces her to go to Sierra Leone in 1801.
