15 million pints of beer a year... one very special brewery: Burnley's Moorhouse's
BBC North West Tonight tell of the miracle of Moorhouse's - a 146 year old Burnley brewery, bought by Manchester entrepreneur Bill Parkinson because he 'liked the beer', and guided to amazing success by Managing Director David Grant, culminating in a new £4.2 million development.
The brewery, the largest of its kind in the North West of England, can brew 15 million pints of beer a year, and recently collected a best-beer-in-the world award at the Brewing Industry International Awards.

Naked Golden Oats are grown without husks so that even more goodness and flavour can be extracted during brewing.

MOORHOUSE'S BLACK CAT RESERVE
Moorhouse’s, the Lancashire-based independent brewer is to launch a bewitching special edition of it’s ‘Black Cat’ dark ale (3.4%), a former winner of the coveted CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain. Primarily available as a 4.6% cask beer, there will also be a 7% version with limited cask availability – the latter will also be available in bottles, to be sold exclusively by the Booths supermarket group. Moorhouse’s describe the beer as “An intensely dark beer, Black Cat Reserve conjures deep complex notes of roasted coffee chocolate and mocha, balanced by hints of dark cherry and blackcurrant from the Polish Junga hop’. The Burnley brewer’s link with Halloween is well established – largely due to their award-winning brews with names centred around the story of the witches of Pendle Hill (aka Pendle Witches) near Burnley in Lancashire; Black Cat reserve will join other themed beers including ‘Broomstick Bitter’, ‘Witchhunt’, ‘Black Witch’, ‘Witches Cauldron’, and ‘Witchfinder General’ – continuing the theme of their core beers ‘Blond Witch’, ‘Pendle Witches Brew’ and of course ‘Black Cat’.

Bill Would Outlaw Beer Pints Less Than 16 Ounces
A bill in the Michigan Legislature would stop bars and restaurants from selling pints of beer that are less than 16 ounces. It's a way of protecting consumers, allowing them to get what they pay for. Whether it means bar owners use bigger glasses, or stop calling the smaller glasses pints, remains to be seen. Patrick Jones (@Patrick_E_Jones) has the rest.

Moorhouses White Witch
Ale Degustation presents English Blonde Ale: Moorhouses White Witch
Brewed by: Moorhouse's Brewery (Burnley) Ltd
A blond style that uses cascade and a late addition of centennial hops to give a really easy drinking, refreshing session ale.
Fall under the spell of the White Witch. Originally a seasonal ale, she sold out so fast she earned a permanent residency in Moorhouse’s repertoire. The hops used give a big hit of lemon, citrus and spice on the aroma balanced with a smooth malt taste and a lingering bitterness.
