Moraira
Moraira is a pretty fishing village, with strict building regulations in force, so there are no high rise buildings here. The fishermen still go out early in the morning to catch fresh fish to sell later that day at the traditional fish market. The people are renowned for their friendliness and with a coastline that stretches for 8km you will not be spoilt for a choice of bars or excellent restaurants. You can walk along the palm fringed seafront past the castle and numerous beaches, choose from rocks, pebbles or sand. The main sandy beach lAmpolla is situated at the foot of the castle and is patrolled by lifeguards, there are excellent facilities here including childrens play area, restaurants, bar and various watersports. El Portet beach also has fine sand and crystal clear water, and has been presented with the Blue Flag Award for cleanliness.
Moraira also has a very good market weekly with lots of bargains for avid shoppers as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.

The Beautiful Towns of Moraira and Teulada Costa Blanca Spain (Tour)
Welcome to Teulada, this pretty Spanish town is situated 100 kilometers south of Valencia and 85 kilometers north of Alicante.
Placed against a backdrop of mountains, this town offers the visitor a chance to see the old Spain with its cobbled streets and pretty houses. You can spend a day here wandering and enjoying a glass of wine in the bars and restaurants that surround the town square.
At the top of the town is the new auditori where music and theatre can be seen throughout the year.
Teulada is surrounded by vineyards, a crop that reflects the agricultural heritage of the region. The local wine is sold in many of the shops, along with traditional breads and cakes.
The church of Santa Catalina is a beautiful example of renasonce architecture which dominates Teulada's centre. There is also the hermitage of Sant Vicent.
Every year in april there is the fiesta of Sant Vicent which sees the whole town celebrating their patron saint. This religious festival is celebrated with great ceremony and culminates with a spectacular firework display and the party continues through the night.
Take a stroll round this traditional Spanish town and experience something of the history of the region.
As you leave the town and head down towards the coast, you will pass the small Hermatage of La Font Santa (the Saint Fountain), here you will find a picnic area and play area for children.
There is also a barbeque area to cook your own food.
Carry on further towards the coast and you will come to the once small fishing village of Moraira.

Here in Moraira, you will find the magnificent fish auction house La Lonja, which is open every week.

El Portet which is a good place for sunbathing and swimming with its crystal clear waters and coves.
Lampolla beach where you can practice watersports and is also home to the natural bird sanctuary called Marjal del Seniyar.

Places to see in ( Moraira - Spain )
Places to see in ( Moraira - Spain )
Moraira is a small, upmarket Spanish coastal town, part of Teulada municipality, in the Marina Alta comarca, 80 km north of Alicante and 100 km south of Valencia. Moraira is a tourist resort on the Costa Blanca strip, with 8 km of coastline backed by mountains and vineyards.
The permanent population of Moraira in the northern Costa Blanca, Spain is around 10,000, although this rises to 36,000 in summer. There is a high proportion of expatriates living here permanently, and the area is very popular with affluent retirees, especially British. The majority of visitors to Moraira are Spanish, British, German, Dutch, and French.
Moraira’s historic roots as a fishing village are still in evidence; its fish market is one of the most popular in the Costa Blanca region and the port has five fishing boats in operation. The Moraira region is also famous for the growing of Muscatel grapes.
However, the economy of Moraira is now built around tourism and Spanish property sales that have transformed the coastline over the past 30 years. Strict planning regulations have prevented over development and high rise buildings, making it a highly desirable destination. Little remains of the fishing cottages that once made up the little port that serviced the town of Teulada that stands at the head of the valley. To preserve the heritage of the area, the Teulada council passed laws protecting the abundant pine trees and limited the height of buildings. It has a privately owned marina built in 1985, operated by Club Náutico Moraira. Moraira is also seen as a culinary destination, with many restaurants. Moraira has three sandy beaches popular with families, and many rocky coves and inlets frequented by snorkellers and scuba divers.
