Emerald Cave (Morakot Cave), Koh Muk, Thailand
We recommend a bigger torch if you've got one, we couldn't see anything inside the cave but it was fun!!! Enjoy!
Emerald Cave (Morakot Cave) on Ko Muk, Thailand
Grotter, vand og en lagune? Dette beskriver nemt Emerald Cave, som er et vidunder placeret på den thailandske ø Ko Muk. For at besøge lagunen skal du svømme igennem en grotte (i mørke) på 90 meter.

Caves, water and a lagoon? This easily describes Emerald Cave, which is a wonderful attraction located on the island Ko Muk in Thailand. To visit the lagoon you must swim through a 90 meter long cave (in the dark).
Emerald Cave Thailand | Private Tour | Koh Muk Island
We hired a private boat to take us to the Koh Muk Emerald Cave off the coast of Phuket, Thailand! Check out the cave and private beach, it's almost straight out of the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Koh Mook Emerald Cave! Thailand!
The most spectacular Island, due to his hidden beach!
EMERALD CAVE THAILAND. Stunning location❤️️
Duncan Robertson visits an absolutely stunning beach, land locked and shielded from time. The only way to visit this amazing beach is to swim thru the Emerald cave at low tide. It is one of the best things I have ever done in Thailand and well worth a visit. When we arrived there were so many people but they were all leaving as we entered the cave so we had the place to ourselves, the entire production crew just floated around the crystal clear pool for an hour and we all felt a very spiritual connection with this stunning place. You can access the island from Trang and is a short boat ride to the island.

The best way to go to Emerald Cave is certainly with a Private Longtail Boat, Lanta Dream & Paradise :
Koh Muk - Emerald Cave (Tham Morakot)
The Emerald Cave, Tham Morakot in Thai, on Koh Muk in the Trang islands is a cave that you can swim through to get to a secluded beach (only when the tide is low). Definitely worth a visit, even if only through this video.

Also known as Morakot Cave. In Koh Muk (Mook)
We rented a kayak at 7:30am (the time the rental place opens) and paddled to Emerald Cave. It took about 20 minutes to paddle there and we were on the beach inside the cave within 30 minutes on leaving Charlie Beach.
Kayak rental from Charlie Beach:
THB 100 hour. included paddles, buoyancy aid and head torch.
Moto taxis on Ko Muk cost THB 50 per person to any destination. There are no cars in the island.
National Park entrance fee charged at the entrance to the cave is apparently collected between the hours of 9am to 1pm. Outside these hours you go in for free. During these hours it will be busy with tour groups.
If you kayak to the cave but want to swim in, tie your kayak to the white buoy outside the cave.
The cave is about 80m long. We paddled through slowly and it only took 90 seconds.
There are two bends so you can't see from one end to the other.
About 1km further along the coast is a nice beach called Sabai Beach.
We paddled from Charlie beach to Emerald Cave, Sabai Beach and back in 2 hours.
Consider taking mask and snorkle as there are loads of fish.

MORAKOT CAVE in trang / Travel summer of Thailand
Tham Morakot
one of the fantastic attractions of the Unseen in Thailand is located at the west of Ko Muk. The exciting journey to Morakot Cave besides seeing the marvelous nature creation is the way to reach the cave by swimming one by one into the entrance of the cave with the width of not more than 10 metres and little area above the sea level.
This can allow only a small boat to pass through during low tide along the channel of 80 metres long. After passing the entrance to the other side, one will stand at the large hall roofed by the sky looking like standing inside the very large funnel. The sand beach will be seen in the middle to the hall surrounded by high cliffs. Some species of plant are found either on the beach or at the cliff such as Caladium, spurge (Euphorbia antiquorum) etc.
The sunlight during midday will be straight through the mouth of the funnel. The reflection of the sea creates the emerald color as the name “Morakot Cave” which means”Emerald Cave”. To get to Ko Muk and Morakot Cave, boat service leaves Kuan Tung Ku Pier at 08.00 hr everyday charging 40 baht per person. One trip by the rented boat will charge 400 baht and takes 30 minutes to Ko Muk. Upon arrival at Sapanyao Pier in front of the island, one have to rent a long-tailed boat to Morakot Cave rested at the other side of the island (100 baht each). Another way is to rent the boat from Pak Meng Pier straight to Morakot Cave at Ko Muk. The rate is 1,800 baht/day taking about 40 minutes.
Tham Morakot is visited by swimming or by small inflatable boats. Starting from a ship, the swimmer has to enter the cave until he reaches a water filled chamber, which is lit by sunlight through a hole in the ceiling. The entrance passage is rather small and low, and it is passable only during low tide. If visitors miss the time inside, they have to wait for the next low tide to get out again.
The name of the cave means Emerald Cave. It describes the emerald colour produced by sunlight filtered through sea water. Inside the cave is a secluded beach of white sand.
This cave played a small role in the enormous desaster of the 2004 Christmas earthquake and tsunami of southeast Asia. When the wave hit the cave, two swimmers were washed in, battered, and killed. Eighty visitior who survived the wave were resued after five hours.
Another cave in the Hat Chao Mai Marine National Park is called Tham Chao Mai. It is located in the south of the park and is a dry cave above the sea with a small spring inside. It also only reached by boat, but it is not necessary to swim.
Emerald Cave, Koh Mook, Thailand
Would you like to swim through Emerald Cave (Tham Morakot) on gorgeous Koh Mook Island in Thailand? Jump in green-blue water with me through the dark, narrow tunnel to a hidden lagoon.
This is my inaugural launch of using a GoPro.
Travel Tips:
Koh Mook, or Muk, is one of the smaller Trang Islands in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand. It is easily accessible by regularly scheduled speedboats or ferry coming from either the north or south. You can do a day trip from another island to the cave, but will likely then be with crowds especially during peak season. I recommend staying on this charming island. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 nights at the luxurious Sivalai Beach Resort. There is a wide range of accommodations to choose from.
You can book your trip to Emerald Cave from your hotel, any number of travel kiosks, or go by yourself. It's only accessible by boat or kayak, and is not accessible at high tide. In my case, I asked the woman I bought a coconut from on Charlie Beach and she arranged for her husband and son to take me the next morning. Booking the day before is fine.
Go early, I'd say between 7-8:30 am. Or consider later in the afternoon after the crowds leave. Just pay attention to tides. I went at 7:30 am and basically had the magical place to myself.
Prices from Charlie Beach (Haad Sai Yao/Farang Beach):
Longtail boat: 600 Thai Baht for up to 4 people
Kayak: 100 Thai Baht/hour
