Our Hostel is located in the Heart of the coastal village of Findhorn. We sleep up to 26 people, over two dorms of 10 beds in sailors and crew dorms. 1 mate’s cabin that sleeps up to 3 people and 1 captain’s suite, that sleeps up to 5 people.

Our Hostel is located in the Heart of the coastal village of Findhorn, at the mouth of Findhorn Bay.
We are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the North East, Moray Coast, between Nairn & Elgin, in Scotland.
We are 32 miles from Inverness and 80 miles from Aberdeen. Our nearest towns are Forres, Nairn and Elgin.
Our accommodation is self-catering however, we do have a local caterer available if required. Also Findhorn village does have a bakery, Spar shop, Post Office, four cafe's and two pubs. All village amenities are within a 5 minute walk of the Hostel.
We can offer assistance in arranging a tailor made package of local outdoor activities, arts and educational events for your stay, all local to the Findhorn area.
Our hostel is only ten minute walk away from the world famous findhorn foundation community.
Findhorn as a destination is suitable for various types of travellers. And it doesn’t matter if you walk, cycle, ride a bike, drive a car, take a bus, train or a plane. Hopefully, this little gem of a Village, called Findhorn, is next on your travel bucket list.

Guerrillas in the Scotch Mist - Findhorn Bay Arts Festival
As part of the Findhorn Bay Arts Festival, Light Collective were asked to create a series of Guerrilla events to engage local communities using light.
First up were projections at the Benromach Distillery (great whisky) then the next night, a guerrilla tour of buildings in Forres (we lost a team to the pub and a couple of guerrillas in the kebab shop).
Friday night saw us holding a photography workshop in a the beautiful ruined abbey at Kinloss with the help of the local army base (proper camo wear was involved...) and fittings from Mike Stoane Lighting and iGuzzini UK.
The final event, was a guerrilla tour in the village of Findhorn where the sky was filled with the lights of the Aurora and the Milky Way.
We had an amazing time and met some lovely people on the way - thank you Findhorn, Forres and Scotland in general!

De 1993 et 1998, entre l’Écosse et le Québec, Harold Rhéaume et Katrina McPherson collaborèrent à plusieurs reprises sur différents projets de vidéodanse.
Directeur artistique de la compagnie Le fils d’Adrien danse qu’il a fondé il y a 17 ans, Harold est reconnu et apprécié du public et de ses pairs pour ses œuvres chorégraphiques empreintes d’humanité. De son côté, Katrina vit et travaille en Écosse et reçoit plusieurs reconnaissances en tant que vidéaste au fil des années.
En 2017, après 20 années de séparation, Katrina et Harold reçurent l’appui du programme Connections QUÉBEC-UK pour un projet consistant, dans un premier temps dans échange culturel entre Harold et Katrina, Le fils d’Adrien danse, le chorégraphe écossais Karl Jay-Lewin, Bodysurf Scotland et The Work Room à Glasgow, afin de développer un réseau de contact entre la ville de Québec et certaines parties de L’Écosse.
Et dans un deuxième temps, la réalisation d’une vidéodanse, d’un livre et d’une exposition inspirés du tournage du film créé par Katrina et Harold intitulés : Paysages Mixtes/Mixed Landscapes
Le projet de film de danse (Paysages mixtes) prend son inspiration d’une œuvre créée par Harold en 1998, Les dix commandements. En 2017, sans reprendre la chorégraphie originale, Harold et Katrina s’inspirent du schème de valeurs véhiculé par le décalogue pour en tirer 10 mots qui guideront la création.
Dans ce nouveau film, Harold et Katrina interprètent une suite de solos et de duos, tournée dans divers lieux tels que l’édifice Le Tramway à Glasgow, la forêt près de Moray, la plage de Findhorn, les plaines et les collines des Highlands et la ville de Québec.
Ils sont donc tous les deux, devant et derrière la caméra pour ce projet.

Between 1993-98, Harold Rheaume and Katrina McPherson collaborated on a number of screen dance works, in Scotland and in Quebec.
Today, Harold is one of Quebec’s foremost choreographers and Director of Le Fils d’Adrien danse and Katrina is an award-winning screen dance artist, living and working in Scotland.
In 2017, after 20 years of separation, Katrina and Harold were awarded funding through the Connexions QUEBEC-UK Connections scheme for a cultural exchange project involving Harold and Katrina, Le Fils d’Adrien danse, choreographer Karl Jay-Lewin, Bodysurf Scotland and The Work Room in Glasgow, aimed at establishing networks across Quebec and Scotland.
Taking this opportunity to spend time together as a chance to make new work, Harold and Katrina leapt at this opportunity to spend time together to make a new work - Paysages Mixtes/Mixed Landscapes - which takes the form of a book, a film and an exhibition.
As a starting point, they revisited a live work The Ten Commandments that Harold had choreographed in 1998. In 2017, instead of the choreography, they investigated the concept of a moral code, and identified a collection of words that they feel represent that morality.
Taking these words as the inspiration for a series of solos and duets, the artists went to different environments - in and around the Tramway building in Glasgow, in the woods, moors and beaches of the Scottish Highlands and Moray, and in Quebec City and at these diverse and evocative locations, they performed for the camera.

John Todd (born 1939) is a biologist working in the general field of ecological design.
He addresses problems of food production and wastewater processing by using ecosystems technologies that incorporate plants, animals and bacteria. Todd has developed Arks or bioshelters, ecologically closed life-support systems with the goal of sustainable functioning. He combines alternative technologies for renewable energy, organic farming, aquaculture, hydroponics and architecture to create living machines
or eco-machines.John Todd is a co-founder with Nancy Jack Todd of the non-profits New Alchemy Institute (1969-1991) and Ocean Arks International (1981),
and the founder and president of the design and engineering firm John Todd Ecological Design Inc. (1989).
A research professor emeritus and distinguished lecturer at the University of Vermont,
Todd has published books on ecological design, as well as over 200 scientific papers, popular articles and essays.

New Age is a term applied to a range of spiritual or religious beliefs and practices that developed in Western nations during the 1970s. Precise scholarly definitions of the New Age differ in their emphasis, largely as a result of its highly eclectic structure. Although analytically often considered to be religious, those involved in it typically prefer the designation of spiritual or Mind, Body, Spirit and rarely use the term New Age themselves. Many scholars of the subject refer to it as the New Age movement, although others contest this term and suggest that it is better seen as a milieu or zeitgeist.
As a form of Western esotericism, the New Age drew heavily upon a number of older esoteric traditions, in particular those that emerged from the occultist current that developed in the eighteenth century. Such prominent occult influences include the work of Emanuel Swedenborg and Franz Mesmer, as well as the ideas of Spiritualism, New Thought, and Theosophy. A number of mid-twentieth century influences, such as the UFO religions of the 1950s, the Counterculture of the 1960s, and the Human Potential Movement, also exerted a strong influence on the early development of the New Age. The exact origins of the phenomenon remain contested, but there is general agreement that it developed in the 1970s, at which time it was centred largely in the United Kingdom. It expanded and grew largely in the 1980s and 1990s, in particular within the United States. By the start of the 21st century, the term New Age was increasingly rejected within this milieu, with some scholars arguing that the New Age phenomenon had ended.
Despite its highly eclectic nature, a number of beliefs commonly found within the New Age have been identified. Theologically, the New Age typically adopts a belief in a holistic form of divinity that imbues all of the universe, including human beings themselves. There is thus a strong emphasis on the spiritual authority of the self. This is accompanied by a common belief in a wide variety of semi-divine non-human entities, such as angels and masters, with whom humans can communicate, particularly through the form of channeling. Typically viewing human history as being divided into a series of distinct ages, a common New Age belief is that whereas once humanity lived in an age of great technological advancement and spiritual wisdom, it has entered a period of spiritual degeneracy, which will be remedied through the establishment of a coming Age of Aquarius, from which the milieu gets its name. There is also a strong focus on healing, particularly using forms of alternative medicine, and an emphasis on a New Age science that seeks to unite science and spirituality.
Centred primarily in Western countries, those involved in the New Age have been primarily from middle and upper-middle-class backgrounds. The degree to which New Agers are involved in the milieu varied considerably, from those who adopted a number of New Age ideas and practices to those who fully embraced and dedicated their lives to it.
