Morisset picnic area is great for a family picnic just watch out for the hungry roos, no shops in the area and could not find a toilet. worth the drive if you love kangaroos.This place was hard to get to so follow these instructions.
Morisset picnic area is in the Morisset precinct of Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area.
.Take the F3 exit at Mandalong Road
.Continue along Dora Street and turn right into Acacia Avenue
.Follow Acacia Avenue to the end through the Morisset Hospital grounds
.At the end of the road is Morisset picnic area

Morisset is a key town centre in the city of Lake Macquarie, and is easily accessed off the F3 Sydney-Newcastle freeway. Morisset is a gateway to the Watagan Mountains and to the lake, with the Morisset Peninsula area offering great sailing.

Morisset Hospital Kangaroos
Kangaroo tourism has become a big thing at Morisset Hospital. Having been widely advertised as a good viewing site on the internet and on social media it is not likely that it can be stopped. But for the wellbeing of the kangaroos and the safety of visitors, there does need to be better education about the Do's and Don'ts and at least some improved management. As you can see in this latest video I've produced, people are getting injured. I don't want to see people stopped from visiting the kangaroos, but there clearly needs to be a co-ordinated response to protect the kangaroos as well as the people who visit them.

Visiting the kangaroos at Morisset Hospital has become increasingly popular, but that's not necessarily good for the animals. It can also be risky for tourists, particularly when children come into close contact with the roos. While I know that a lot of locals enjoy seeing the roos, I've put together this short video which I hope helps people understand the dangers associated with visiting them.

Train : from Sydney centre train station to Morisset (around 2 hrs)
there's a bus station right outside the train station
