Katsuura morning market with 400 years history 400年の歴史「勝浦朝市」
The morning market of Katsuura City in Chiba prefecture features fresh fish, vegetables and fruits and dates back over 400 years. It's rare to see a market open over 300 days a year in Japan. During the week around 20 - 40 stalls and on weekends and public holidays around 70 stalls line both sides of the road. At this time of the year, products like skipjack tuna, horse mackerel, tomatoes, eggplants and Japanese pears are sold and you can enjoy conversations with local people. Even though there is no information available in other languages, foreign tourists sometimes venture into the Katsuura morning market. Enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional port city at this historical morning market. (The market is closed every Wednesday.)
新鮮な魚、野菜、果物が並ぶ千葉県勝浦市の朝市は、400年以上の歴史があります。年間300日以上開かれているのは全国的に珍しく、平日は約20～40店、土日祝日は約70店が道の両脇に並びます。この時期はカツオやアジ、トマト、ナス、梨などが売られ、地元の人とのやりとりが楽しめます。外国語の案内もないのに外国人観光客がちらほらやってくる「勝浦朝市」。歴史ある朝市で、昔ながらの港町の雰囲気を楽しんでください。（毎週水曜日がお休みです。）

Largest Tuna Auction in Japan — Katsuura Fish Market
Katsuura is the largest tuna market in Japan by volume. In other words, Katsuura is responsible for catching a large proportion of the world’s tuna. Starting at 7am most weekdays until all the fish are sold, tourists can watch the fish market in actions as Bluefin, Bigeye, Yellowfin, and Albacore tuna are rapidly auctioned off. If you're traveling to Japan and want to see a tuna auction, the Katsuura fishing port is where you need to be.

Nachi Falls & Kumano Kodo (Katsuura Vacation 1)
This is the first day of our three day trip to Katsuura and Nachi.
We had a 5 hour trip there, had magurodon (there is so much maguro) for lunch, dropped off our bags, then took a taxi to Nachi Falls.
We finished the days activities by going down the Kumano Kodo path and enjoying the onsen in Nakanoshima Hotel.
