TOP THINGS TO DO IN MORNINGTON MELBOURNE VICTORIA AUSTRALIA
Mornington Is a seaside suburb of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia.
It is at the start of the Mornington Peninsula which is the summer playground for not only people living in Melbourne but also those from interstate and around the world.
The town started as a fishing village on Port Phillip Bay. Hence today the city revolves around its beaches and fishishg harbour. When the weather is nice, the main streets are full of people in cafes, restaurants and bars which spill onto the pavement. Main street also becomes a virtual car show with local car enthusiasts showing off their pride and joy. A lot of car clubs do the round trip drive to Mornington from Melbourne.
There are Plenty of beaches for many different activities, including swimming, snorkelling, sailing, boating, fossil hunting and fishing.
The Briars is a couple of minutes drive out of town. It includes bushwalking/hiking in the wildlife sanctuary, Heritage homestead and garden, Eco living Display Centre, Shire Nursery. Restaurant, Cafe, Outdoor Ed Camp, Astronomical Society, BBQs, Picnics, Boardwalks, River Estuary, Outdoor Cinema and Vineyard. So you can spend quite a while here.
Closer into town are the Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens and Oak Hill Gallery.
Every Wednesday is the street market in Main street where stalls are set up along the pavement in town. It goes from 9.00 till 3.00 . Every second Sunday of the month is the big market at the Mornington Racecourse which is every second sunday of the month.

diving Mornington Pier - August 2018
A return dive under Mornington Pier, Victoria, Australia. The pier was updated in 2016, (new pylons, a lower landing and a retaining wall added). These improved the pier 'on top', but sadly, it's a different story underneath. Very limited fish numbers, and rather barren - more like an underwater quarry.
(Check out my 2013 YouTube clip for a comparison of 'how it used to be...).

Water temp 11 deg C, (yes, it's mid winter!) viz 10 - 12 metres (..not too bad!), deepest depth 7-8 metres (at the end of the pier), dive time 45 minutes).
