Adventure Series – Hiking – Morrison Dam Conservation Area
In today's adventure, we're at the Morrison Dam Conservation Area for some hiking along the scenic trails. Created in 1958, both the Dam & Reservoir are located 2 km east of Exeter and named after John A. Morrison. Some of the permitted activities include Canoeing, Fishing, GeoCaching, Hiking & Kayaking.
We are a group of adventurers who love traveling to exciting new places. Exploring this beautiful planet for experiences & memories that last a lifetime. We seek the element of adventure that drove explorers to cross deserts, oceans & unknown expanses with no hope of return.
What we get from this adventure is just sheer joy. And joy is, after all, the end of life. We do not live to eat and make money. We eat and make money to be able to live. That is what life means and what life is for. - George Mallory.

I Can’t Lie Around And Be Lazy,
I Am A Thing-Finder,
And When You’re A Thing-Finder,
You Don’t Have A Minute To Spare.
The Whole World Is Full Of Things,
And Somebody Has To Look For Them ...
GeoCaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a GPSr capable device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called GeoCaches. It is the largest real world treasure hunt with over 3.1M GeoCaches and millions more active GeoCachers playing the game worldwide.
Virtual & Earth Caches are a great way to discover new places you will not find in a travel guide. Some may lead you on a hike to amazing ruins or take you to long forgotten treasures. While others can bring you to an existing attraction to learn about its unique history.
A Virtual Cache is a type of GeoCache that involves gathering information at the cache site instead of finding a hidden container. An EarthCache is a type of GeoCache that involves learning basic geology in the field.
Of course, the adventure is in the hunt as much as it is in finding what was hidden and destined to be discovered.

Kayak Fishing Morrison Dam - Exeter Ontario
Went to Morrison Dam Conservation Area near Exeter to try my luck first time fishing top water frog. This lake has plenty of weed cover for this type of fishing. Was a learning curve getting started but I sure had a blast when I figured it out! Think I'm hooked!
Flowing River, Spring Flowers and Bridges Along the MacNaughton - Morrison Trail Near Exeter Ontario
The MacNaughton - Morrison Trail is part of the South Huron Trail and is located east of Exeter, Ontario. We started our hike from Morrison Line, just across the street from the Morrison Dam Conservation Area. The nicely groomed, the four-season path took us through hardwood and pine forests and offered spectacular views of the overflowing Ausable River. Along the way, there were several lookouts and many spring wildflowers. We decided to take the 75 metre long Stirling Bridge to shorten the 4 kilometre trail, but visitors could continue into Exeter.
We did not spot any of the white squirrels that are common in the area but we enjoyed the beautiful weather and the scenic views.
The MacNaughton - Morrison Trail is open year-round and would be great for hiking, biking and skiing. We will definitely be heading back to this area to enjoy it again, maybe in a different season!
Check out the map to the MacNaughton - Morrison Trail (4 km):
Or hike the entire South Huron Trail (8 km):

Belwood Lake Kayak Fishing
Belwood Lake Conservation Area is another good multi species lake to fish in southern Ontario. It's part of the Grand River System. Cheap entry fee, nice park and boat launch. Pike and bass were my flavor of the day.
