Hunting for Thomas Dambo Trolls at the Morton Arboretum
Hunting for trolls at Morton Arboretum, located in the Chicago suburb of Lisle, Illinois. Danish artist Thomas Dambo has created these wonderful, larger than life works of art that can be found hiding throughout the arboretum since 2018.
My mom Kristine Rowley is also an expert on trolls and Norwegian mythology and served as my guide on this journey. She gives troll talks and presentations as a hobby throughout the United States, and her newly released children’s book titled Trolls can be purchased at the link below.
Also newly available in 2020 by Kris Rowley is the children's book: Trolls Legends and Fairy Tales which can be viewed and purchased at the link below.

The Morton Arboretum, in Lisle, Illinois, United States, is a public garden, and outdoor museum with a library, herbarium, and program in tree research including the Center for Tree Science. ' - Wikipedia
It's a beautiful garden, which is good for both family and young people to hang out. When we visited last time, there's a cider event. You can also go on Stroll hunting. It's kind of scary when there's no one.
Make sure you go before 6pm so you can enjoy the both parts. The admission is $15USD/ per person.

The Morton Arboretum - Children's Garden (Lisle,IL)
At The Morton Arboretum, imagination lives, curiosity grows, and kids flourish in the Children’s Garden. Splash through secret streams, climb colossal acorns, and slide down giant tree roots all day long. Explore, learn, and play among trees and the natural world.
The Children's Garden includes two main garden areas: Backyard Discovery Gardens and Adventure Woods, linked by a Central Plaza. The three areas incorporate ten themed gardens, each with engaging and interactive activities that children will find irresistible.
Our kids love this area.
The Morton Arboretum - Troll Hunt
Let the Hunt Begin! Journey through our far-reaching forest to hunt for six colossal trolls crafted from reclaimed wood by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. Marvel at these 15- to 30-foot-tall (and one 60-foot long) sculptures that have been created to serve as protectors of our environment.
These mysterious creatures—resembling the trolls of European folklore—were first spotted at the Arboretum in the spring of 2018. As sightings increased, an official investigation was launched to learn about these fascinating new residents.
Visitors are encouraged to seek out these larger-than-life creatures by solving clues in a special Troll Hunter’s Handbook, a guide that will help troll hunters discover where each creature resides within the Arboretum’s 1,700 acre grounds as well as the site of its secluded hideout in the woods. This dwelling sheltered by the Arboretum’s towering trees gives adventurers a look into the lives of these forest guardians.
Trolls will remain through 2018. Trolls may be on view into 2019 depending on how they weather the Chicago winter.

Recorded with a GoPro Hero vid cam on a headstrap.
Unfortunately, the vid cam was not properly secured, and thus it moved back and forth as I ran. This accounts for the clickety-clackety sound.
******EDIT: No, it does NOT. I have submitted a request to GoPro Support for assistance in resolving this issue. If it cannot be solved, I will have to find another way of recording my runs. ******
You can compensate by turning off the volume and playing soft music.
Race results: I ran this 5K in 24 min 9 sec., for a pace of approx. 7 :47 min/mile.

Even on a dreary rainy day, the foliage at Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois displays a color palette ranging from subtle to brilliant. This video is a compilation of photos taken during spring, summer, and autumn visits. Explore the ever-changing gardens and the vast wooded areas. The Children's Garden provides a delightful contrast to the more formal areas. A moody and mysterious New Age instrumental track adds to the ambiance. A cool crisp morning with light fog on Lake Marmo and a great way to begin the day by hiking in the forest and enjoying the Autumn colors. The Morton Arboretum has wonderful hiking trails and ponds. A large variety of trees and plants. The Arboretum is located in Lisle Illinois and is a favorite visiting spot for tourists. Rosanne Jordan photography.
