Mossbrae Falls Dunsmuir, California
The Sacramento River was running wild as you can tell by the loud roar in the background. We followed the Union Pacific Railroad tracks for about a mile to reach the obscure trail-head that leads to this forested paradise.
Mossbrae Falls, Dunsmuir Train Depot - Dunsmuir, CA
July 25, 2017 -- I drove from Ashland, Oregon to Dunsmuir, California (about an hour and a half drive) to visit the Dunsmuir railroad museum and for a day hike to Mossbrae Falls
If you are ever in Northern California near Dunsmuir, you must stop and see this Museum! It really is a wonderful museum, especially if you love trains. Dunsmuir was one of the largest train depots in the United States back in the day and the largest in the West, so the history is amazing.
The weather was beautiful, and, as you will see, the end result was worth the hike in the heat! (Sorry about some of the camera bobbling, but trying to walk a long narrow path without falling off while holding the camera can be challenging.)
I hope you enjoy the Falls and the trains! Thanks for joining me!

One of the prettiest waterfalls I've seen. We visited in early June 2010.
Dunsmuir RR Days (4) - Mossbrae Falls
6/12/10 - This is one of must see water falls in California. the only way to get to there, you have to walk/hike along the RR property(Union Pacific Railroad) . Some people call it as trail but it's not. You are on the RR property. You have to be very careful and try not to walk in the middle of the RR tracks. As you see my video, the water falls is just so beautiful and you got to see it at least once. or not, please enjoy my video!
HISTORICAL DUNSMUIR CALIFORNIA circa 1928 to 1930
Gustav A. Hutaff was an accomplished photographer and cinematographer as well as both President and member of the board of directors for the State Bank of Dunsmuir. He owned a jewelry store and drug store in town. The drug store was in the Traveler Hotel Building in Dunsmuir. He was also an active member of the Odd Fellows. There is a three story building at the intersection of Dunsmuir Ave and Pine Street known as the Hutaff Building where the Travelers Hotel was located and is now the Premier West Bank. As a side note if you were to Google G.A. Hutaff his name will come up associated with a number of vintage Real Photo Post Cards that he produced in and around Dunsmuir.
While he was not one of Dunsmuir's founding fathers this man is certainly an important member of the Dunsmuir Historical Community.
