Waiheke Island - Auckland - New Zealand
Waiheke Island is an island in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand, located about 17.7 km (11.0 mi) from Auckland.
The island is the second-largest in the Hauraki Gulf after Great Barrier Island. It is the most populated, with nearly 8,000 permanent residents plus another estimated 3,400 who have second or holiday homes on the island. It is New Zealand's most densely populated island, with 83.58 people/km², and the third most populated after the North and South Island. It is the most accessible offshore island in the Gulf, due to regular passenger and car ferry services, a Waiheke based helicopter operator and some other air links.
Waiheke translates as the descending waters or ebbing water. This refers to an event when Maori explorer Kahumatamomoe landed on the island and urinated. The name originally referred only to the stream at Onetangi, but now is used to refer to the entire island.

Motuihe Island
Last Day in Auckland for 2018 and spent rather well out on my friend's boat. Sailed through the harbor and out to Motuihe Island where we went for a little walk then quick swim. Jumped off the boat and had a paddle around then sailed back in for the sunset.

Auckland's Volcanic Island - Rangitoto Island
Just out side Aucklands Harbour, there are several volcanic islands. The most famous and most visited is Rangitoto. It visible from around Auckland and has a summit over 250 meters tall.
To get to the island you catch a Fullers ferry from the ferry port. The cost for a return ticket was $30. The trip took 30minutes with a quick tour of the harbour too. The island was beautiful. Covered in woodland, but tons of features from Rangitoto volcanic history. From lave fields to lava caves on the way up to the summit!
Rangitoto will worth the walk to the top to see the Auckland for a far!
