Moturakau Island, Aitutaki Lagoon, Cook Islands
This island was one of the stops on Te Vaka Aitutaki Lagoon Cruise is simply beautiful! It was used as a film location for the movies Shipwrecked and Treasure Island. It was also used by the tribal base for Puka Puka tribe in Season 13 Survivor Cook Islands TV show.
Stefan near One-Foot Island in Aitutaki, Cook Islands
Stefan running around Naked Island (also known as Heaven) in Aitutaki, Cook Islands in October 2015. Naked Island owes its name to the fact that hardly any plants grow on the small sand island or motu. Naked Island is located in between Moturakau and One-Foot Island. Exile Island (from Survivor) is also nearby. Our boat docked at One-Foot Island and we walked through the lagoon to get to this spot on a windy day.

We've just arrived to Aitutaki. But our gear is stranded in Rarotonga. And if that isn't distraction enough, we just got word of another, new oil spill along the Santa Barbara Coast. Work never ends, be we in our labs in California or a beach-front hotel on a remote South Pacific atoll.

I would've loved to have stayed in the game a little while longer, but if your mind's not there completely, 100%, then your tribe is going to feel that. And you don't want to be a weak link to your tribe. I had wonderful tribemates, I was thankful to have been a part of the experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thanks.

Trivia
This is the first episode of Survivor: Cook Islands after the tribe dissolve to have somebody not from the original Aitutaki tribe be voted out.
As of this episode, every original member of Aitutaki has received at least one vote against them.
Survivor: Cook Islands is the thirteenth season of Survivor. The season generated a lot of controversy due to the decision to split tribes by ethnicity. It is also known for being the first season to utilize the Final Three, which has become a mainstay in modern Survivor.
The season was won by Yul Kwon in a 5-4-0 vote over Ozzy Lusth and Becky Lee in the first Final Tribal Council to deviate from the original Final Two format.
Production
The tribal camps, Exile Island, and many challenges of Survivor: Cook Islands were filmed on small motu (Polynesian word for islet) in the Aituaki lagoon. The Rarotonga (later Aitutonga) tribe's camp was on Moturakau. The Aitutaki tribe lived on Motukitiu. The short-lived tribes of Manihiki and Puka Puka lived on Rapota and Muritapua, respectively. Most challenges were filmed on Tekopua and Tapuaetai (One Foot Island). Exile Island, a small sand cay south of Tapuaetai, is called Nude Island by locals in reference to its lack of vegetation. Akaiami hosted challenges and also the loser's lounge, where eliminated contestants were sequestered until the end of the game. Tribal Council, the production camp, and a few challenges were located on the main island of Aitutaki. There were three reward trips to the neighboring islands of Atiu, Mitiaro, and Rarotonga.
Twists/Changes
Four Tribes: For the second time, the castaways are divided into four tribes, containing five members each.
Tribes Divided by Ethnicity: This season featured twenty contestants that were divided into four tribes divided by race, despite controversy.
Exile Island: Returning from the previous season, after a Reward Challenge, players may banish a player from the rival tribe to Exile Island. This island (entirely separate from the existing camps) will force the banished player to fend for him/herself until the upcoming Immunity Challenge (unless stated otherwise). The player would not be left in despair, for he/she will be given clues to a Hidden Immunity Idol that is hidden somewhere on the island.
Hidden Immunity Idol: During this season, the Hidden Immunity Idol is hidden somewhere on Exile Island.
Tribe Switch: On Day 7, the four tribes became two. Puka Puka and Manihiki were dissolved, with the 18 remaining contestants spread into the new Rarotonga and Aitutaki tribes with nine members each.
