Mound Cemetery Marietta Ohio
While in Marietta Ohio we stumbled upon a neat Cemetery. This cemetery has the most revolutionary war graves of any cemetery. Very neat place with a strange vibe when on top of the ancient burial mound. Marietta Ohio is a very interesting town with tons of history.

This mound is right inside this cemetery. There were reports which stated when they excavated it, they found a skeleton in the upright position. They covered it back up and left it alone.
I find it puzzling that these huge mounds have one person in them. I could be these mounds have other skeletons in them... maybe located at the base or down below ground level. I have not found any reports as of yet which state they found giant skeletons in this mound.

Marietta, Ohio Platform Mound
This mound is marked as ceremonial while other researchers feel it is a burial site. What is interesting about this mound is it was constructed to align with the winter solstice. It is off by a mere 2/10's of a degree. That type of precision is incredible. However, many of these mounds throughout the United States are aligned with that same level of accuracy. Some researchers have stated this site might had been constructed some 2,000 years ago.
I have not found any reports as of yet which state they found giant skeletons in this mound.

Marietta is a city in and the county seat of Washington County, Ohio, United States. During 1788, pioneers to the Ohio Country established Marietta as the first permanent settlement of the new United States in the Territory Northwest of the River Ohio. Marietta is located in southeastern Ohio at the mouth of the Muskingum River at its confluence with the Ohio River. The population was 14,085 at the 2010 census.
It is the second-largest city in the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna, WV-OH Combined Statistical Area. The private, nonsectarian liberal arts Marietta College is located here. It was a station on the Underground Railroad before the Civil War. Marietta is also the site of the prehistoric Marietta Earthworks, a Hopewell complex more than 1500 years old, whose Great Mound and other major monuments were preserved by the earliest settlers in parks such as the Mound Cemetery.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and is water.
The Muskingum River and Duck Creek flow into the Ohio River at Marietta. The area is part of the Appalachian Plateau which covers the eastern half of Ohio. The Appalachian Plateau consists of steep hills and valleys and is the most rugged area in the state. The area is within the ecoregion of the Western Allegheny Plateau. This portion of the state is blessed with beautiful scenery and Ohio's most abundant mineral deposits.
The climate in this area is characterized by humid summers, cold winters, and evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Marietta has a Humid continental climate, abbreviated Dfa on climate maps.

A short ride on the old brick streets of Marietta. A burial mound built by an ancient people and the Northwest Territory's largest Revolutionary War Veteran's Cemetery. I report on the lost Adena Spearhead Mound, destroyed about 80+ years ago. It was in Anderson Township, Ohio. A few large skeletons were found when a tunnel was dug into the mound about 90+ years ago.
