Imagine three mountain ranges, two rivers, a big open valley and one vast expanse of blue sky. Now imagine a bird's eye view. Golden is a world-renowned gliding Shangri-la. For gliders looking for thermals or 'updrafts' of warm air that enable them to fly for hours and range over wide distances, Golden has it all.
Mount 7 was host to the National Paragliding Championship in the summer of 2007. The extraordinary 145 kilometre flight was recently described in the prominent glider magazine Cross Country as one of the top, classic cross-country flights of all time. In fact, eight world records for distance and time have been set from the launch at Mount 7.

Flying Mount 7 in Golden B.C. Canada during Willi XC Challenge. Squeezed in 2 flights before near by fires shut down the fun. Didn't fly far but the scenery was exceptional.
Hang Gliding Mount 7, Golden BC - Canadian Rockies
Great spring thermals resulted in 4 days of marvellous flying over Mount 7 and the vicinity, including a 70km cross-country flight to Brisco. Battery died after 1hr 30 unfortunately.
Thanks to all the great local pilots for all the support and advice. Golden is a truly golden location for flying!

I was on my way home from a paragliding and skydiving weekend in Vernon B.C. when I figured I would make a stop at Mount 7. The conditions were great for a quick sled ride, a nice way to end the weekend.

Amazing Winter get away, Mount 7 lodges. Well, when your in Canada and the riding season is over you have to go do and see other things. We decided to take a trip to an amazing place just outside the town of Golden in British Columbia, Canada and man where we ever amazed at this hidden gem. Mount 7 Lodges is an amazing place to stay with great views and peace and quiet, the owners are great and the place was very cool indeed. So if you are ever in the area go stay at Mount 7 Lodges you will not be disappointing.
