The B&O Railroad Museum is a museum exhibiting historic railroad equipment in Baltimore, Maryland, originally named the Baltimore & Ohio Transportation Museum when it opened on July 4, 1953. It has been called one of the most significant collections of railroad treasures in the world and has the largest collection of 19th-century locomotives in the U.S.[3][4] The museum is located in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's old Mount Clare Station and adjacent roundhouse, part of the B&O's sprawling Mount Clare Shops site begun in 1829, the oldest railroad manufacturing complex in the United States.[5]
Mount Clare is considered to be a birthplace of American railroading, as the site of the first regular railroad passenger service in the U.S., beginning on May 22, 1830.[6][7] It was also to this site that the first telegraph message, What hath God wrought? was sent on May 24, 1844, from Washington, D.C., using Samuel F. B. Morse's electric telegraph.[8][9]
The museum houses collections of 19th- and 20th-century artifacts related to America's railroads. The collection includes 250 pieces of railroad rolling stock, 15,000 artifacts, 5,000 cubic feet (140 m3) of archival material, four significant 19th-century buildings, including the historic roundhouse, and a mile of track, considered the most historic mile of railroad track in the United States. Train rides are offered on the mile of track on Wednesday through Sunday from April through December and weekends in January. In 2002, the museum had 160,000 visitors annually.[3]
The museum also features an outdoor G-scale layout, an indoor HO scale model, and a wooden model train for children to climb on. From Thanksgiving through the New Year, local model railroad groups set up large layouts on the roundhouse floor and in select locations on the grounds of the museum. A museum store offers toys, books, DVDs and other railroad-related items.
The museum and station were designated as a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1961.[1] In 2008, the Museum won three awards in Nickelodeon's Parents' Picks Awards in the categories of: Best Museum for Little Kids, Best Indoor Playspace for Little Kids, and Best Indoor Playspace for Big Kids. Television and film actor Michael Gross is the museum's celebrity spokesman.[10]
The museum also hosts an annual Day out with Thomas event every year. Complete with the train's excursion including a non-powered Thomas the Tank Engine replica built by the Strasburg Rail Road.

Haunted Historic Mansion--Riversdale
From mansion's brochure: Riversdale, a National Historic Landmark, was begun bhy Henri Joseph Stier, a Flemish aristocrat who fled from political turmoil in Europe. Construction of the stucco-covered brick mansion near the new Federal City, Washington, began in 1801. After Stier's return to Europe in 1803, he gave the house to his daughter, Rosalie, and son-in-law George Calvert, a member of Maryland's founding family, who completed the house....Th Calvert's son, Charles Benedict, owned the property from 1839 to 1864. He was trhe principal founder of trhe Maryland Agricultural College, known today as the University of Maryland, College Park. ...The Riversdale House Museum offers a glimpse into the early 19th Century life of both the owners of the estate and the servants and slaves who worked there....A small admission fee...Open to the public Fridays and Sundays 12 noon to 3:30 PM year round except public holidays..
Director's note: If you take the tour upstairs you will see a manniquin dressed as the headless servant girl Abegail Spencer, who is rumored to roam the house and grounds at night looking for her head. She makes a ghost appearance in the video at about 24:00

B&O Railroad Museum Ellicott City, Maryland
The first railroad station in America in Ellicott City, Maryland, completed in 1830, was the terminus of the first thirteen miles of rail in America, built from Baltimore west as competition, successful it turned out, for the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal.
The B&O carried passengers to the station, and on west, until 31 December 1949 and its` successors, currently CSX, operated it as a freight station until the flooding caused by Hurricane Agnes in June of 1972. It has been operated as a museum since 1976 and has recently become part of the main B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore City.
The diorama/model in the former freight house shows the first thirteen miles of the B&O. It`s an amazing effort, constructed by the Mount Clare Chapter of the National Model Railroad Association and accurately represents a number of features along the Old Main Line; mills, iron works, viaducts, parts of West Baltimore, a good section of the Patapsco River and Ellicott City itself, formerly Ellicott`s Mills. While not part of the Old Main Line, the Thomas Viaduct, completed in 1835 and still carrying rail traffic, is also depicted.
No visit to Baltimore and environs, especially for history buffs and rail devotees, is complete without visits to both the B&O Railroad Museum, Ellicott City Station and the main museum, which includes rolling stock and train rides, in Baltimore. Information about both is on the website; borail.org
Ellicott City itself is rife with history and has been described as one of the most European villages in America. It features granite buildings, now mostly shops and restaurants along Main Street, part of the original National Road, now Maryland Route 144. It played a major part in the American Civil War, as did Maryland itself, being a border state with seriously divided loyalties. Have a look at Ellicott City`s website; ellicottcity.net

Historic Ships Baltimore
In honour of those who served for our countries. This was not a planned shoot by any means. While filming another project we decided to visit the ships in Baltimore and since I had my camera gear with me I figured I would shoot for fun. Due to Remembrance Day and Veterans Day just passing I decided to put this small tribute together. If you are ever in the area you should make the visit, it is not only interesting, but to actually be on a ship/sub that participated in these historical events is amazing.
