Mount Cooroora is located in the town of Pomona in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The peak is a 439 metres high intrusive volcanic plug.
Mt Cooroora at (Tuchekoi National Park), is probably the most famous of the Sunshine Coast climbs, due to the King of the Mountain race held annually in July since 1979. The fact that it is a race from the pub in town, and the best time is 22:43, gives you the false impression that this might be quite an easy climb, but you would be wrong!
Take time out as you climb to enjoy the stunning views south across the Sunshine Coast and the 360° vista from the top.

Climbing Mt Cooroora in Pomona- the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Sounds good? Then head to the scenic rural town of Pomona about 25 kilometers inland from Noosa Heads then park on Mountain Road just off School Road where the walk begins.
There are a few interesting shops to explore in Pomona, and the old hotel is the ideal place for a long drink after your climb, but first you have to earn it.
It stands 439 meters high and takes about two hours to climb there and back. The Peak Bagger's Guide covers everything from easy walks to those only suited to experienced scramblers and Cobb rates Mount Cooroora as a moderate climb.

Mount Cooroy Summit Hike
A quick tour up Mount Cooroy - 408m above sea level. Due to the mountain only being open to the public once a year, there were big crowd numbers on the hike. It was relatively steep and quite loose dirt and rock under foot, but overall, a decent little climb. It took us 50 minutes to get up and about 30 minutes to get down. It'd be a lot quicker without the crowds.
