MOUNT GILLEN, ALICE SPRINGS
Covermore travel insurance announced a video competition that anyone across the globe could enter. Covermore asked participants to present an adventure in a two minute video.
I climbed Mount Gillen by myself, captured various shots of the hike and submitted this video into the competition. I made it into the Top 6!

A little information about my video submission:
Hi there! My name is Ella Rose and I’m a vlogger from Perth, Australia.
Two weeks ago I travelled to Alice Springs and whilst I was there I decided to climb Mount Gillen.
I’ve done a lot of hiking throughout my life - but I've never been brave enough to do it solo...until recently! This adventure was a really empowering experience for me and its reinforced that I’m capable of anything I put my mind too. I hope you enjoy!
Note: This video was filmed and edited by yours truly - and I would LOVE the opportunity to travel and share more adventures with you in the future.

I really hope you enjoyed this little adventure - it was a lot of work to film alone (whilst climbing a mountain), but I had heaps of fun editing it all together. It would really mean a lot to me if you could like, share and rate the video.

Australia - Alice Springs NT Drone Video
Alice Springs is the third largest town in the Northern Territory of Australia. Popularly known as the Alice or simply Alice, Alice Springs is situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre.
The town straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges. The surrounding region is known as Central Australia, or the Red Centre, an arid environment consisting of several different deserts. In Alice Springs temperatures can vary dramatically, with an average maximum temperature in summer of 35.6 °C (96.1 °F) and an average minimum temperature in winter of 5.1 °C (41.2 °F)
The area is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around what is now Alice Springs for thousands of years. The name Alice Springs was given by surveyor William Whitfield Mills after Lady Alice Todd (née Alice Gillam Bell), wife of the telegraph pioneer Sir Charles Todd.

Ochre Pits. MacDonnell Ranges, Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia 2011
The Ochre Pits are a popular tourist destination in Australia's Northern Territory, approximately 100 kilometres west of Alice Springs along the Larapinta Trail. The pits consist of several layers of multi-coloured, layered rock that was traditionally used by Australian Aborigines in ceremonies and played an important role in the continent's economy, being traded with neighbouring clans and countries,[1] in every direction on the continent.
The mine belongs to the Western Arrernte people. Prior to European settlement of the area in 1880, only certain men were qualified to collect the ochre. It was considered some of the choicest ochre - soft to touch, vivid, with a slight sheen to it. The colours range from gold to crimson. After the ochre was mined by the Western Arrernte, it was ground and mixed with Emu fat for ceremonial body adornment.
