For the ones who like to travel to the far corners of the world and have adventure in their blood this is a must see place and a guaranteed rush of adrenaline.
Thousands of people each year decide to go on one of the most dangerous roads in the world. It is composed of rickety stairs and paths with planks nailed on the rocks. At every step, they put their lives at risk to test their limits and to reach the famous teahouse in the top of the mountain Huashan in China.
Mount Huashan is located in Huayin, part of the Shaanxi province. The closest city, Xi’an, is 120 kilometers away. The teahouse of the top of the mountain is located on the south side of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,160 meters. Viewed on a map the Huashan mountain chain looks like a flower.

Hey guys we did the infamous Skywalk at Mt Hua, otherwise known as the Most Dangerous Hike in the World. Now since we just did this, we'd like to share with you the most valuable information to know before you go.

1. This particular hike is officially called the Plankroad in the Sky - remember this when you look for signage on the mountain.
2. You do not have to hike the 6 hours up the mountain to get to the Plankroad - there are actually two cable cars that can take you up in less than 30 minutes. The easiest route is to take the NEW - west cable car - and then hike the 30-40 minutes from the West Peak to the South Peak where the Plankroad is located. Then follow Plankroad in the Sky signage and you will arrive at the site in no time.
3. The Plankroad itself only takes 30 minutes or so to complete. It consists of a staircase down which is metal rods in rock (with large gaps at times), becomes stone cut outs on the cliffside, then comes the actual plank and lastly more stone cut outs leading to the small temple. When you are done you must turn around and go back exactly the way you came.
4. Know that the Plankroad is a TWO WAY trail and you willl be required to pass on the outside of others at times. If you are truly afraid of heights you may want to mentally prepare for this fact.
5. You do not need to bring or purchase a harness. You will rent one upon arrival at the Plankroad and it currently costs $5 USD.
6. Gloves are not really necessary for the Plankroad itself and in certain seasons you may actually feel uncomfortable with the heat.
Prices and additional information as of Summer 2014 are as follows:
1. Tickets for everything other than the actual harness itself can be purchased at the Mt. Huashan visitors center. To get onto the mountain you will need the following:
1.1 Entrance to the mountain is $30 USD ($15 USD with a valid student ID)
1.2 West Cable Car Fees - $6 USD each way for the bus and $22 USD each way for the cable car itself ($16 USD with a valid student ID)
1.3 North Cable Car Fees - $3 USD each way for the bus and $13 USD each way for the cabe car itself ($12 USD with a valid student ID)
2. If you choose to hike the mountain it will take anywhere from 4-6 hours and is extremely strenuous. We only recommend this for those in very good shape. It is also advisable to hike the mountain at night (really early in the morning) and catch the sunrise. The trail up is illuminated, so no worries there. You can also opt to spend the night on the mountain itself, as there are several lodging options available.
3. The cable cars down stop operating at 7pm, so be sure to time accordingly if you want to get down that way. You can chose to take one cable car up and the other down (or do a round trip on one), just buy a one way at the bottom and then get a return on the mountain when you are ready to head down.
4. The are food options all over the mountain - prices are high, but good to know that they are there. Bathrooms also exist at every major peak and sometimes in between, so it is pretty convenient
5. Plankroad in the Sky can have a backup of adventurers waiting to get on the dangerous hike, so there can be a wait. They only let a certain number of visitors on the path at a time (for safety reasons of course) and they also close it down at a certain time of day (around 5pm), so if you have your heart set on the trail, you may want to arrive on the earlier side. We also heard that weekends and holidays can get even busier, so plan accordingly!
6. If you want to make it to all the peaks on the mountain, plan for 4-6 hours depending on your speed. David and I decided to run from the West peak all the way to the North peak, which we were told is a 3 hour hike. We made it in 35 minutes, so it is potentially possible that you could do all the peaks in less time, but I wouldn't necessarily advise it considering the dangerous nature of many parts of the trail.
7. Getting there and away - you can choose to visit the mountain as a day trip from Xi'an (by bus approximately 2 hours each way) or stay in the town of Huashan (accessible by train or bus from Xi'an).
GD8 Huashan - Huayin - China (2010)
POMA imagined and built a MULTIX 8 gondola lift for the Chinese company Shaanxi Taihua Tourism Ropeway Road. It carries tourists and pilgrims to the top of Mount Huashan at an altitude of 2,120 m at the heart of the Chinese province of Shaanxi.
The Huashan MULTIX 8 gondola lift is divided into two sections with an intermediate station. The first section is 1,815 km long with a vertical rise of 68 m and comprises 38 cabins. The second section is 2,396 km long with a vertical rise of 826 m and 48 cabins. The ropeway has several 600 m spans without towers.
To respect this UNESCO World Heritage Site, POMA imagined and built an underground tunnel to reach the top station through a 150 m long tunnel chiselled in the mountain.

Above 2,000m! Cliffside Planks Changing at Huashan Mountain in China
Some courageous maintenance workers took great risks on Thursday as they replaced wooden planks along the famous cliffside plank path at Huashan Mountain in northwest China's Shaanxi Province in preparation for the summer tourism season.
The path, located 2,000 meters above sea level and with a drop of nearly 800 meters, is composed of steel rod ladders, toeholds carved out of the cliff and narrow wooden planks.
It is very dangerous to walk on the short and narrow path since there is nothing but wooden planks for tourists to walk on and a rail of chains for them to grasp.
It is therefore especially demanding a job for the maintenance workers to remove worn-out planks and install new ones. All seven of the workers doing the job are natives of the area and have been familiar with the conditions of the precipitous mountains since they were children.
One of the main difficulties these workers face is how to bring the new anti-corrosive wooden planks, which are much heavier than the old ones, down in place for the changing. In addition, in order to stay safe, the workers had to kneel down on the planks with widths ranging from 30 to 60 centimeters to do the removal and installation work with small cutting machines and electric drills. They had to take precautions in order to prevent the planks from shaking.
For such a time-consuming job, it took the workers almost the entire morning to install one plank
Management staff at Huashan Mountain said the maintenance work is aimed preparing for a surge of tourists in this summer.
As one of China's Five Great Mountains, Huashan Mountain is well-known for its precipitousness.

In today's video, we climb Mount Huashan for the first time, visiting China's deadliest hike, the Plank Walk.
The trek was closed due to safety concerns, but thanks to our tour guide Robbie from China Highlights, we find another challenge on the mountain. Mount Hua was certainly worth the trip!

Mount Hua is a mountain located near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi province, about 120 kilometres east of Xi'an.it is world deadlist hike and It is the western mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China, and has a long history of religious significance. Originally classified as having three peaks, in modern times the mountain is classified as five main peaks, of which the highest is the South Peak at 2,154.9 metres. Camping on mount huashan is really good specially the sunrise in the morning.

Situated in Huayin City, Mt. Huashan is 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Xian. It is famous for natural vista of steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags and a high mountain range. Its five peaks are the representative attractions and each has its distinctive charms: East Peak is the best place to enjoy the sunrise; South Peak has the highest altitude; West Peak is the most elegant; North Peak is famous as the Cloud Terrace Peak and Middle Peak is also called Jade Lady Peak.
The Mountain is also home to several influential Taoist temples, where many emperors of past dynasties took part in Taoist activities and sacrificed to the god of mountain, making it a holy land of Taoism. At its foot, are the representatives of its Taoist elements.

How to Get To Mt Huashan (with details on tickets to bus,cable car etc.)
You’ve come to the right video on your travel to Mt Huashan! Our hike started at West Peak and ended in North Peak as recommendede by our hotel. It is indeed the best route for us! We were able to enjoy the plank walk with less queue since it is near the West Peak. It was easier for our knees too, the trails are okay and not so much stairs compared to North Peak (to begin with an ascend).
Feel free to ask us where we stayed and I will recommend you our hotel for 100RMB per night with 5 min walk to the bus to Mt Huashan ticket hall. Very convenient, enjoy watching and don’t forget to subscribe in our channel! ☺️????☺️-tam

Scariest Hike In China - 3 Peaks Mt Huashan - China Adventure v13
In today's video, we take to Mt Huashan in China to conquer the three peaks wrapped in mist. Thanks to our guide Robbie, we were able to survive the scariest hike in China and successfully stand on the East, West and South Peak, before taking the cable car back down.
We also learned an IMPORTANT lesson that can help you avoid all of the crowds, and there were many of those !!
The clouds rolled in and made the view a misty version of a Stephen King movie, but the stairs were small and slippery, so we were successfully terrified!

Chaos at Huashan Mountain
Chaos when 20 people try to cross each other at a one foot wide wooden plank road hanging high on the cliffs of Mount Huashan in China
Edit: just to clarify, we didn't switch direction, we didn't choose to cross all these people, we didn't choose to be on the 'inside', this was simply the way we were instructed to go. It's one path, for both directions.
From the stairs to the little shop at the end you get to stay near the wall, coming from the shop going back to the stairs you have to go on the edge. I didn't have any free hands to hold my camera for that part, sorry ;)
