We hike the Mount Iron Reserve Loop in Wanaka New Zealand on day 7 of our road trip across the South Island. It's a chill day of us meeting up with friends and mini hikes, but one of my favorite days of the trip.

This follows a huge increase in foot traffic to the scenic lookout in recent years.

ISTHMUS PEAK TRACK in WANAKA!
The number of cars we saw at the trailhead of Roy's Peak in Wanaka was absolutely insane, so we opted for a less busy track and hiked up to the top of Isthmus Peak for a beautiful sunset.

Bush fire wipes out Wanaka hill... View from - Mt Iron | Wanaka | NZ
Mt Iron offers stunning views over Wanaka town and Lake Wanaka, and is an easy 1 hour return walk. It's 5 mins drive from the centre of town, and has toilets and (limited) car parking at the bottom. On 3rd January 2018, a nearby hill area was scorched in a bush fire - here I 'report' on the occurrence (yesterday) for a bit of fun. In an update, the fire was contained after 40 firefighters and 8 helicopters worked on it for two days, and no-one was hurt.

Walking Roys Peak in Wanaka is a MUST! The view from Roys Peak is one of my favourite views in New Zealand. It’s maybe even my favourite one! So go and check it out!
It's the third time I'm walking Roys Peak track. This time my friends and I decided to go for a sunrise walk, meaning: waking up at 3am!

Isthmus Peak, Wanaka | NZ MUST DO!!
My friends and I decided to make use of an amazing summer day and hiked up Isthmus Peak in the Lake Hawea, Lake Wanaka region. This is an absolute stunning 1 day hike, and at the top you get 360 degree views of Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka! Definitely a NZ must do, would almost rate this walk better than Roys Peak which is a more famous hike in the same region. Check out my Roys Peak vlog here and Breast Hill vlog (Same region) here
