We went and explored Mount Major in Dookie, Victoria, Australia. It's a very short hike to the top of the mountain and has great views over the surrounding land and farms. It's a perfect day trip from Shepparton to get outdoors and get active.

Have a bit of an annoying off early in the run, but then go again from that point on.

I'm sure there's better lines - only got a chance to do 3 runs before my bike basically fell apart... Seriously bike-damaging track!

Dookie Day 2017: Highlights

The Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences hosted a community open day at the Dookie campus on Wednesday 18 October 2017 to engage the local community, industry and stakeholders in the Goulburn Valley.

Around 300 visitors were able to see demonstrations of research based at Dookie and the Faculty's other campuses, learn about our courses and see the recently upgraded Swinburne Hall and A Dorm, where Bachelor of Agriculture students in the Dookie Semester have been based this semester.

Swinburne Hall was officially opened by Deputy Chancellor Ross McPherson in a ceremony attended by University Executive. The Executive also attended an engagement lunch with Faculty staff and local VIPs where Faculty Dean John Fazakerley and Provost Margaret Sheil presented on the Faculty and University's commitment to the campus, and to the Goulburn Valley.

The 90 Bachelor of Agriculture and Diploma in General Studies students based at the campus guided visitors and gave presentations on what they had learned at the campus.

2019 MSA Excellence in Eating Quality Awards Most Outstanding MSA Producer NSW - Tom and Cathy Amey

Northern NSW beef producers Tom and Cathy Amey have spent almost 20 years refining their herd based on feedback from Meat Standards Australia (MSA).
By adopting a policy of using MSA feedback data to guide breeding decisions, Tom and Cathy have made calculated changes – like moving from Charolais to Murray Grey sires over their composite cows, which are half Brahman and a quarter each Murray Grey and Friesian.
The move gave the Ameys the extra carcase fat cover they needed to more reliably hit MSA grading, without significantly denting weight gains.
It’s these business decisions that have resulted in Tom and Cathy being awarded the 2019 MSA Excellence in Eating Quality Awards for Most Outstanding MSA Producer in New South Wales for Band 2 producers.
