Panorama-Pelion-Magnesia-Thessaly
In Greek mythology, Mount Pelion (which took its name from the mythical king Peleus, father of Achilles) was the homeland of Chiron the Centaur, tutor of many ancient Greek heroes, such as Jason, Achilles, Theseus and Heracles. It was in Mount Pelion, near Chiron's cave, that the marriage of Thetis and Peleus took place. The uninvited goddess Eris, to take revenge for having been kept outside the party, brought a golden apple with the inscription To the Fairest. The dispute that then arose between the goddesses Hera, Aphrodite and Athene resulted in events leading to the Trojan War. When the giants Otus and Ephialtes attempted to storm Olympus, they piled Mount Pelion upon Mount Ossa, which became a proverbial allusion for any huge but fruitless attempt.
Pelion or Pelium (Greek: Πήλιο Pilio, Ancient/Katharevousa: Πήλιον) is a mountain at the southeastern part of Thessaly in central Greece, forming a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. The GR-38 runs in the southern portion of the peninsula and the GR-38A runs in the middle.

Tempi Valley, The New and the Old.
The vally of Tempi in northern Thessaly...a famous pass through a narrow valley between the Mt Olympous and Mt.Ossa which crosses Pinios river. This valley also crosses the rail main line of Athens Thessaloniki. For railfans the Tempi valley Pass is a special and myhtical place because of its special beauty. However, the old single line was replaced by a new double high speed one which was completed in November 2003. Till then the old line was forgoten and beauty of this valley was lost from passenger's eye as the new line passes throug a 5km long tunnel. The only part that kept some of the old route is that between bridge of river Pinios and and the entrance of the narrow part of the valley. An this part we are going to show you in this short video (due to lack of trains in the main line which is result of cuts at the schedule). Starting with a panoramic view of the part that line is visible in our days in the valley. Then we walk on the old line and stand on the old metal bridge to offer you images of another era and of what seems to be today's journey from the new high speed line.
Unfortunately, progress and romanticism have two completely different meanings.

Τα Παρατράγουδα Ομολιο(part2)
Τέμπη || Tempe || Greece

The Vale of Tempe is a canyon in the Tempi municipality of northern Thessaly, Greece, located between Olympus to the north and Ossa to the south. The valley is 10 kilometres long with cliffs nearly 500 metres high and through it flows the Pineios River on its way to the Aegean Sea. Tempe are the main passage from Macedonia to Thessaly and for that the area was of great importance in ancient Greece.
