Climbing Mount Otemanu at Bora Bora
After 4 hours of hiking, almost reaching to the top this was the second most scary part. But worth it every second.
Reaching to the TOP: Mount Otemanu Bora Bora
My 4th wish came true on my birthday at bora bora. after 5 hours of climbing we reach to the top The whole video looks a like mission imposible movie. Not even hollywood have such a beautiful scene. The whole experience was incredible.
MOUNT PAHIA BORA BORA
Most people go to Bora Bora to relax, not for hiking, but I couldn’t resist attempting the summit of Mount Pahia, the second highest summit in the island and a very challenging and even dangerous hike. Finding a guide to take me was also challenging. The hotel I was at, found one but he canceled at the last minute and gave no reason. I didn't want to give up on the hike, so I still gave it a try and fortunately met Ash, another adventurous spirit also wanted to go all the way to the top. We encountered more challenges than we expected... Rights to use music by Bendsound (“Cute”) and Incompetech (Bumba, Exit Premises)
View of Bora Bora during Mt Pahia summit hike
This is a full 360 degree view of Bora Bora taken from the summit of Mt Ohue on the hike to Mt Pahia. Due to trail erosion from a fire, the summit of Mt Pahia can no longer be reached without climbing gear and safety equipment. This view is nearly as incredible and is taken from the highest point which can be reached by hikers. The peaks of Mt Otemanu (left) and Mt Pahia (right) can be seen at the end of the video.

Bora Bora: Island in French Polynesia
Bora Bora: Island in French Polynesia
Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. Surrounded by sand-fringed motus (islets) and a turquoise lagoon protected by a coral reef, it’s known for its scuba diving. It's also a popular luxury resort destination where some guest bungalows are perched over the water on stilts. At the island's center rises Mt. Otemanu, a 727m dormant volcano.
Jewel of the South Seas
Undoubtedly the most celebrated island in the South Pacific, Bora Bora is French Polynesia's leading lady. Her beauty is unrivaled and her fame, unwavering. Bora Bora is one of the few places on earth that everyone hopes to witness in their lifetime—and once you see it, you are forever enamored.
The Allure
More than just a romantic ideal, Bora Bora is a romantic reality. It comes as no surprise that the island is an internationally acclaimed honeymoon destination. Our newlyweds who decide on a Bora Bora honeymoon often feel as though they have escaped to a private oasis tailored entirely to their special moment of marital bliss—and anyone in the midst of planning a wedding can relate to just how enticing that sounds.
The Locale
Bora Bora may feel worlds away, but this South Seas splendor is well within reach. Where is Bora Bora, exactly? The island lies just northwest of Tahiti, less than an hour away by plane from Papeete. The airport is located on a small, separate part of the island known as Motu Mete. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a warm smile and fragrant flower lei and transferred by boat to your Bora Bora resort, meaning you hardly have to wait for your first encounter with the island's famously translucent lagoon.
The inevitable love affair with this island begins right before you touch down. The view from the plane window is a moment you will not soon forget. Have your camera in hand as you begin your descent and prepare for the moment when iconic Mount Otemanu comes into view. From that point on, each experience will only continue to exceed even your highest expectations.
Accommodation
Bora Bora has become synonymous with overwater bungalows. Many of these lavish floating villas have glass floors that supply a window to the lagoon life below. This locale is unique in the fact that most Bora Bora resort hotels are built on their own tiny island, or motu, and visits elsewhere must be arranged by boat transfer. Not to worry, though, you will hardly need to leave your bungalow let alone the resort. From lounging on your own private deck and receiving room service via outrigger canoe, to indulging in a rejuvenating spa treatment, you will pass the time in quiet seclusion and opulent luxury.
Recreation
The wonderful thing about Bora Bora is that you can be as active or inactive as you wish to be. Should you decide to venture away from the resort, you can visit the main village of Vaitape and shop at the local boutiques or dine at one of Bora Bora's restaurants including Mai Kai Bora Bora, or the legendary Bloody Mary's. You can also explore Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu on a guided hike or Jeep Safari tour.
Since water is a way of life on the island, popular lagoon excursions include snorkeling, diving, cruising, fishing, paddle boarding, kitesurfing, Jet Skiing, and of course, shark and ray feeding. You can also take your experience to new heights by parasailing, skydiving, or touring the island by helicopter.
Final Impression
Once seen, Bora Bora is never forgotten. From the day you arrive until the moment you part ways, you will be in awe of how her soaring mountain peaks, turquoise lagoon and luxuriant overwater bungalows somehow look even more spectacular than the pictures.

We've been wanting to go to Bora Bora for the longest time and we made it happen last July of 2019! From staying to an over-the-water bungalow to swimming with the sharks, it definitely was a trip to remember!
Here's a breakdown of our trip (and some tips along the way):
Step 1:
You need to book a flight to Papeete, French Polynesia. From there, you need to take another flight to go to the island of Bora Bora.
We booked with American Airlines from Reno to Papeete then flew with Air Tahiti Nui to go to Bora Bora.
Step 2:
You will arrive at Bora Bora airport. You have two options to go to your hotel. The expensive but convenient route is to directly book a boat transfer from your hotel. This usually costs $120+ round trip.
The cheaper route is to take the free shuttle to the main island of Vaitape then from there, take a cab (you will pay around $20-$30 depending on the distance) to your hotel.
Step 3:
Since eating at the hotel can cost a lot of $$, you can to buy some snacks etc. at a grocery store in the main island of Vaitape which is close to the main dock where you get dropped off. Then if you plan on doing any activities in Bora Bora, they have a visitors center where they can refer you to different agencies depending on what you want to do.
We opt out to do a 6-hour snorkeling tour which costs us about $100/person (we’ll post another video of this) and this is where you swim with the sharks and stingrays! Definitely recommended if you go to Bora Bora!
You can also book the activities directly from your hotel but this tends to be a little bit more.
Step 4: Relax and enjoy! :) This is the part where you can just be lazy and swim all day! Most of the hotels provide free rentals (paddle board, kayak, bikes etc.) for your entertainment. You can also splurge and have a nice dinner at one of their restaurants!
Step 5:
This is where you hit “Like” and “Subscribe” to our page! :) Kidding aside, we would appreciate it if you do as this will help us build our YouTube channel. We will be making more tips and tricks about travel that will help you guys! Thank you and keep on exploring!

Greatest View on Earth - INSANE hike to the top of Bora Bora
Not many visitors go to Bora Bora to hike, we couldn't resist the rewarding and very difficult hike to the highest point in Bora Bora. Watch to see what the trail is like and breath taking the 360 view from the top. We discover the best snorkeling is right off the back of our bungalow. The boys take a fishing trip with a very animated local and catch a 60lb yellow tuna. And if you want to see how animated that local is watch after the closer for a glimpse of his personality.

Bora Bora is a 29.3 km2 (11 sq mi) island in the Leeward group in the western part of the Society Islands of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France in the Pacific Ocean. The island, located about 230 kilometres (143 miles) northwest of Papeete, is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. Bora Bora is a major international tourist destination, famous for its aqua-centric luxury resorts. The major settlement, Vaitape, is on the western side of the main island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Produce of the island is mostly limited to what can be obtained from the sea and the plentiful coconut trees, which were historically of economic importance for copra. According to a 2008 census, Bora Bora has a permanent population of 8,880.
