Built at the end of the seventies, Tochal ski resort is part of a multi activity complex located North of Tehran. Tochal is a leisure place for Tehran, and people who came to breath fresh air and enjoy many activities such as : skiing or snowboarding, hiking, summer sledge, zipline, coaster, restaurants, hotel…
To reach the ski area, the 7km ride gondola, constructed by the french company POMA, can fit up to 6 persons per cabin.
SKI AREA
At Tochal ski resort, the winter season lasts up to 7 months with 100% natural snow ! If smog isn’t to dense, you will experience a breathtaking panoramic view of Tehran from top of the gondola.
On the other side of the mountain, North-West exposure, you will find the ski area equipped with 3x lifts : 2x chairlifts (three seats) and 1x unused ski lift. The 2x slopes of the resort are nice, wide and properly groomed everyday. You will be amazed by the quality of the snow.
Using the lifts, off-piste trails are limited. However, weather you know where to go, you can experience really long off-pistes : Starting from Tochal Peak back to the valley leading to Dizin, Shemshak and Darbandsar ski resorts.
Since 2017, a terrain park is built by a small team of volunteers, who are passionate about snowboard and ski freestyle.

Tochal Ski Resort on top of the Mount Tochal is the 6th highest ski resort in the world at the elevation of 12,270 ft. The ski resort's gondola cable car system at the base of the mountain is 4.6 miles/7.5 km long and it takes 45 minutes to traverse the route to the resort - the longest in the world. You will be skiing above the clouds once you get there . . .

Tochal is a mountain and ski resort located on the Alborz mountain range, adjacent to the metropolitan area of Tehran in northern Iran. It includes a 12-kilometer-long (7.5 mi) ridge. Its highest peak, also called Tochal, is at an elevation of 3,933 meters (12,904 ft).
A gondola lift runs from Tehran to the Tochal ski resort and hotel, all as a part of Tochal Complex.

Climb Mount Tochal Tehran Iran
It was late afternoon, when I arrived at the visitor Centre. The cable car and access to to summit of Mount Tochal was not possible unless I was willing to walk up.
So I did together with a king young university student climbed up to 2900 meters.

توچال قلّهای در شمال تهران و به ارتفاع ۳۹۶۲ متر میباشد که بخشی از دامنه رشتهکوههای البرز است. دامنهٔ جنوبی توچال مجاور با شهر تهران و قلهٔ آن مشرف به این شهر است. این قله در جنوب منطقه کوهستانی البرز مرکزی و بر روی خط الراس شرقی-غربی واقعشده است که از سمت شرق به قلههای لزون، کلکچال و دارآباد و از سمت غرب به قله شاهنشین و منطقه امامزاده داود منتهی میشود. مشهورترین و پر رفتوآمدترین پناهگاهها و جانپناههای توچال به ترتیب از شرق به غرب دارآباد، کلکچال، شروین، شیرپلا، جان پناه قله توچال، امیری، هتل اوسون، ایستگاه پنجم تله کابین، اسپیدکمر و پلنگچال هستند که همگی آنها مشرف به تهران هستند. توچال در تقسیمات کشوری جزو استان تهران و شمال شهر تهران به عنوان بلندترین ارتفاع نزدیک به تهران است.

Tochal has a long gondola lift which begins from Velenjak valley at 1900m and ends in the last station at 3740m near the main ridge of Tochal. This gondola lift is used for accessing ski resorts and other recreational centers on the mountain. The gondola lift has four stations:
Station 1 is at an elevation of 1900m and located at the beginning of Velenjak valley (end of Velenjak Street). Parking, inns and some other facilities are available.
Station 2 is at 2400m and has very limited facilities.
Station 5 is at 2935m. There is a restaurant and a rescue center. This station is in the middle of one of the ski slopes which is open only in mid winter. This station is also accessible through several climbing paths like Shirpala shelter, Osoon valley and Palang-chal shelter.
Station 7 is at 3740m and very close to the Tochal main ridge. It is the last station of the gondola lift. This station is in the middle of the Tochal ski slope. The Tochal main peak is 30 minutes walk from this point. This station is also reachable from Hezar-cham climbing path from Station 5.
