Taking Tsukuba Express from Tokyo for a Day Trip to Mount Tsukuba!
We took the simplest way to get to Tsukuba, and that was taking the Tsukuba Express Line (TX) from Akihabara. If you are looking for a place to get away from the business, then Tsukuba is the place.

Adventures Climbing Mt. Tsukuba (in Ibaraki, Japan!)
Mt. Tsukuba is the largest mountain in Ibaraki. It's actually TWO mountains Nyotai-san (877m) and Nantai-san (871) - and it's one of the few non volcanic mountains in Japan.
It's also very green (as you can tell from this video). And really steep.
The mountain is said to lead to a happy marriage (because one peak is male and the other is female - ie learning to live and love together). I'm not sure if it really does help, but Ryouske and I certainly had fun climbing it.
We really like climbing mountains :D

テン！（ホンドテン）筑波山 Japanese Marten on Mount Tsukuba Martora giapponese sul Tsukubasan
先週筑波山で大好きなテンを見ましたが、撮影の許可が下りませんでした。テンの場合、よくあることです。ということで、二ホンイタチのような奇跡的なまとめ動画 ( ) を目指すのをあきらめ、春に撮影できた素朴な動画を共有することにしました。
いずれテンの素晴らしさに相応しい動画が撮れることを夢見ています。
I had a brief encounter with a Japanese Marten last week but he did not grant me the permission to film him, like often happens with this very shy animal. At this point I gave up aiming at a complete footage like I miraculously made for the Japanese Weasel ( ) , and I decided to share something from what I have.
The main clip is from last spring.
I hope that some Marten will give me the possibility to show its awesomeness in the future!
La settimana scorsa ho visto una mia amata martora ma non mi ha dato il permesso di filmarla, cosa che succede spesso con questo animaletto timido e guardingo. Allora ho rinunciato a puntare a realizzare un video completo come sono miracolosamente riuscito a fare per la donnola ( ) e ho deciso di condividere quel poco di decente che sono riuscito a filmare in primavera.
Spero che avro` l'opportunita` in futuro di riprenderla un po' meglio come meriterebbe questa splendida creatura.

Tsukuba is a city in Japan’s Kantō region, on Honshu island. In the city center, Tsukuba Expo Center has interactive science displays and a planetarium.
Tsukuba Space Center has a rocket engine and exhibits on space exploration. North, a funicular railway and cable car run to the twin peaks of Mount Tsukuba, known for its fall foliage. At the foot of the mountain, Tsukuba-san Shrine was founded in the 7th century.

Hiking up Mount Tsukuba For Sunset
Hiking up Mt. Tsukuba for Sunset
To start off the new year, I decided to hike up Mount Tsukuba to try and get some landscape photos. I got up to the peak of Nyotaisan right before sunset and I can't recommend it enough. However, I wasn't prepared for what would come next.
Mount Tsukuba stands around 877m tall and has two peaks, Nyotaisan and Nantaisan. According to some locals, Nyotaisan is better for the sunset and nightscapes while Nantaisan is better for sunrise.
Places visited:
Mt. Mitake - connects to a variety of other mountains, opening it up to be a fun and challenging hiking course. Located to the west of Tokyo next to Mt. Takao.
Mt. Tsukuba - Located in Ibaraki Prefecture to the east of Tokyo. It's kind of annoying to get there and back so plan your trip beforehand.
For Mt. Tsukuba, it cost roughly 3498 JPY total for me to go there and back from Kitasenju Station. From Kitasenju to Tsukuba it costs 1029 and the bus from Tsukuba Center to Tsukubasan Shrine is 720.
There is a day pass ticket that you can purchase.
It costs 4300 JPY to depart from Akihabara or 4040 JPY from Kitasenju. The ticket includes fares from the designated origin station to Tsukuba, the buses, cable car, ropeway, and discounts on some things in the area.

Tsukuba san is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan and is located about 100 km from Tokyo.
Mount Tsukuba is a good place to go for a day hike.

Mt.Tsukuba[ZEKKEI IBARAKI]
Since ancient times, many have said, “To the west lies Mt. Fuji, and to the east, Mt. Tsukuba,” and the mountain has also been called “Shiho” for its vibrant colors at dawn and dusk.
Mt. Tsukuba has two peaks known as Nantaisan (male) and Nyotaisan (female), and it has thrived since long ago as a sacred mountain.
The trail leading to Mt. Tsukuba is lined with signposts and kura (storehouses), allowing enjoyment of the historical town that retained the atmosphere of the Edo Period. The mountain allows enjoyment of nature through climbing and hiking, attracting people throughout the year.
A cable car and ropeway offer easy access to the top of the mountain, allowing people of all ages to enjoy the beautiful view.
