Mount Warrenheip flyby
Mount Warrenheip is an inactive volcanic cone in Victoria, Australia. The mountain is located 9 kilometres east of Ballarat in central Victoria, Australia, with an elevation of 714 metres.
Volcanic activity ceased around 100,000 years ago, and along with Mount Buninyong, which can be seen at various points throughout the video, it is one of only two forested scoria cones in Victoria.
Most of the mountain is designated as a nature conservation reserve. Also visible in the video is the marked difference between the more heavily-forested southern slope and the less densely forested northern slope. This is a common phenomenon in Australian slope morphology. Hundreds of trees on the northern slope have died in recent decades from drought, predominantly peppermints, manna gums and stringybarks.
The mountain was subjected to fire in 1866, 1901, 1939 and again in February 2013. Light snow occasionally falls on Mount Warrenheip.
As can be seen in the video, Mount Warrenheip has four telecommunications towers installed at its peak, including antennae for Radio 3BA, Voice FM 99.9, ABC News Radio, Telstra mobile and WiMax services, an amateur radio repeater and police dispatch radio.
Kryal Castle is located at the foot of the northern slope.

BALLARAT VICTORIA AUSTRALIA AA
The site of the city was originally a stock station established by William Cross Yuille and Henry Anderson in 1838 and named Ballarat (originally under the spelling Ballaarat), which was derived from local aboriginal dialect meaning 'resting place'. Settlement flourished in the early 1850s when gold was discovered. With a huge influx of population and wealth as a major participant in the Gold Rush, Ballarat was, for a time, Victoria's largest city. During the last 50 years of the 19th century Ballarat prospered on gold mining. The confidence of the city's early citizens is evident in the scale and opulence of many of the early public buildings, public recreational spaces, commercial establishments and housing. The period from the 1880's to the early 20th century witnessed a successful transition from a gold rush town to an industrial age city. WIKIPEDIA
