Duquesne Incline To Mount Washington, Pittsburgh - 2014
The Duquesne Incline that goes up Mount Washington in Pittsburgh is the best thing to do in Pittsburgh. It is a 136 years old and still works. This is the best thing to do in Pittsburgh and costs you $ 2.50 one way. Your kids will love it, and you can catch the view of Pittsburgh 's amazing downtown view on the way up and down.
They used to have four inclines on all 4 sides of Mount Washington, but two of them are closed. Now they only operate the Duquesne and the Monongahela Inclines. The incline is technically called a funicular , and you can see how it works in my other video.
In the past, the duquesne incline was steam powered and was apparently closed for good in 1962, due to lack of patrons. However, they formed save the incline committee and funded it to keep the legacy going. Whether you are a local or a visitor, this is one thing you must do in Pittsburgh.

5 Great Restaurants in Mount Washington
More info at
Mount Washington not only boasts incredible views, there are lots of food options on what many dub “restaurant row.” There’s the traditional LeMont, Vue 412 serving American fare and splendid seafood dishes at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. Here are five of the most delicious restaurants in the neighborhood.
1. Altius
Modern fine dining is at its best at Altius, who boasts scenic city views. Start off with chilled oysters, then enjoy entrees like an Australian lamb rack. Whimsical desserts are available to end your meal, like a homemade dreamsicle pop, made with citrus cotton candy, orange cream, lemon olive oil cake, meringue, white chocolate and a crispy white chocolate cookie. For more information on Altius, click HERE.
2. The LeMont
The LeMont calls itself “the place for special occasions.” Great for weddings, rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, birthdays and more, the restaurant serves up big juicy steaks, strong cocktails and of course their signature coconut cake. For more information on the LeMont, click HERE.
3. Vue 412
The large, multi-room Vue 412 serves typical American fare like chicken romano with fettuccine in a saffron cream sauce. An amazing prime rib in a roasted garlic au jus and boursin mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables is served Friday through Sunday only. For more information on Vue 412, click HERE.
4. The Grandview Saloon & Coal Hill Steakhouse
Established in 1992 as Pittsburgh’s USDA prime chophouse, The Grandview Saloon and Coal Hill steakhouse specializes in steak (of course). Other noteworthy options include a steak burger, coconut shrimp and a delicious ahi tuna steak with wasabi sauce. For more information on the Grandview Saloon and Coal Hill Steakhouse click HERE.
5. Monterey Bay Fish Grotto
The classic seafood restaurant serves unique dishes that are deliciously tasty. Items like a brandied shrimp tagliatelle with crushed tomato and cream sauce, arugula, shaved parmesan and white truffle melt in your mouth. There’s also a mean lobster mac and cheese on the menu too. Desserts like an amazing peanut butter and jelly trifle don’t disappoint either. For more information on the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, click HERE.
