The Califronios living along the Pacific coast see their lives changed with the arrival of Euro Americans in the 1830's and after. Among them was Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, one of the richest men and largest landowner in California in the early 19th century. The coming of American merchants, farmers, and miners will change his life and he will eventually lose everything he had.
Wawona Hotel Ghost Story, 3/4/11
Perhaps this is the pilot referred to in this story: During the 1920s, a small plane crashed outside the Wawona Hotel, and the badly injured pilot was taken to Moore Cottage, one of the hotel's guest units. Tragically, before the doctor arrived, the pilot died from his injuries. Since then, both employees and guests have seen a ghostly figure dressed as a pilot - complete with leather jacket, head gear with goggles and a white silk scarf.

Haunted Dry Creek Cemetery,Ghost- Terrell, Tx, June 16, 2012
Lake Cities Paranormal Investigations did an investigation at Dry Creek Cemetery in Terrell, Tx. We believe we where communicating with a spirit named Billy the Cowboy.(a very active spirit, also known as a bit of a grumpy spirit) I know the video is dark but I promise you NO ONE in our group touched the flashlights. The flashlight where turning on and off in response to my questions. The candle you see is a citronella candle. They have nothing to do with the investigation. We had them sitting all around us because the bugs were so bad. The flashlight we are using is TWIST the top kind not push button. So you have to twist the top for it to go on and off. We also got lots of awesome pics, evp's, orbs, cold spots and even what we think is a portal. This cemetery is known for lots of activity and it did not disappoint us.

The Mexican American experience in California in the Gold Rush years of the 1850's were characterized by violence, discrimination, land losses, and general social/economic decline.Driven from the gold fields, Mexican Americans were called greasers and viewed as a backward, ignorant people. Even the ricos, Californios like Mariano Vallejo, ended up losing their land and political influence under a new set of American laws that violated rights guaranteed them and other Spanish speaking people under the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.
INTERRUPTED PASSAGE part 1
Interrupted Passage
The project Interrupted Passage included video, performance, sculpture, culinary tastings and photography and was a response to make a site-specific work in Sonoma County, California. Interrupted Passage, explored the complex and diverse history of California, specifically focusing on the transfer of Alta California from Mexico to the United States in the mid 1800’s. The project re-visits and examines Mexican General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo’s last 8 hours in power and his subsequent arrest.
Pounding on the door of Vallejo’s home, thirty-three heavily armed men demanded Vallejo surrender the land in the name of the United States. Answering the door, the participants of the revolt were astonished by the refinement of General Vallejo’s politeness and demeanor. In fact, Vallejo invited the intruders into his home as guests where he prepared an all day feast consisting of homemade wines, Aguardiente, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. It is these last hours of Vallejo as the governor of Alta California, on which the project concentrates, including the exchange of conversations, and culinary wonders, bringing to light the Treaty of Guadalupe and the history of California.
Interrupted Passage is a video-based project, which re-creates and re-interpreted this historical event, the video component was filmed at Vallejo’s former residence, in Sonoma in the actual rooms and locations of Vallejo’s home.
The project was shown as a video installation at LAX ART in Los Angeles, New Langton Arts In San Francisco, The Orange County Museum and is currently part of the traveling exhibition FEAST, Radical Hospitality in Contemporary Art

Trip to ????MICHAEL JACKSON ????????Neverland Valley Ranch
Neverland Valley Ranch (renamed Sycamore Valley Ranch) is a developed property in Santa Barbara County, California, located at 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, California 93441, that was first named Neverland in 1988. It is most famous for being the home of the American entertainer Michael Jackson. Jackson named the property after Neverland, the fantasy island in the story of Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up. Jackson's first encounter with the ranch came when he visited Paul McCartney, who was staying there during their filming of the Say Say Say video. According to La Toya Jackson, Michael expressed interest to her in someday owning the property at that time.
Today, the ranch is owned by Colony NorthStar. The ranch is located about 5 miles (8 km) north of unincorporated Los Olivos, and about eight miles (13 km) north of the town of Santa Ynez. The Chamberlin Ranch is to the west, and the rugged La Laguna Ranch, is to the north. The Santa Barbara County Assessor's office says the ranch is approximately 3,000 acres (1214 hectares
The estate was originally known as the Zaca Laderas Ranch at the time of its purchase by the property developer William Bone in 1977. Bone renamed the estate the Sycamore Valley Ranch and moved there with his family. Bone commissioned the architect Robert Altevers to design the principal buildings on the ranch, and the pair spent two and a half years researching potential designs and ideas. The 13,000 square feet (1,200 m²) main house was completed in 1982, based on a design by architect Robert Altevers, with formal gardens, a stone bridge, and a four-acre lake with a five-foot waterfall. Bone later said that in building the house he had ...a desire to express everything I had learned in 15 years of home building...I achieved here all the things I wanted to do in my business but could not. He had considered converting the property to a country club but did not do so.
Michael Jackson purchased the estate from Bone in 1988 for an amount that is not certain. Some sources indicate $19.5 million while others suggest it was closer to $30 million US dollars. The property was initially purchased by a trust with Jackson's lawyer, John Branca, and his accountant, Marshall Gelfand, as trustees, for reasons of privacy. The arrangement was later rescinded by Jackson in April 1988 and he became the ultimate owner of the property. It was Jackson's home as well as his private amusement park and it contained a floral clock, numerous artistic garden statues featuring children, and a petting zoo. The amusement park included two railroads: one 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge named Neverland Valley Railroad with a steam locomotive named Katherine after his mother built 1973 with two coaches), and the other a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge with a locomotive named C. P. Huntington made by Chance Rides. There was also a Ferris wheel, Carousel, Zipper, Octopus, Pirate Ship, Wave Swinger, Super Slide, roller coaster, bumper cars, and an amusement arcade. The master closet also contained a secret safe room for security. Jackson was also an avid art collector.
Some of the events that took place at the Ranch included the wedding of Elizabeth Taylor and Larry Fortensky in 1991, the live Oprah Winfrey interview of Jackson in 1993, and an event in 1995 when Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley hosted children from around the world.
Neverland Ranch was searched extensively by police officers in connection with the People v. Jackson trial after he was charged with multiple counts of molesting a minor in 2003. Jackson was acquitted of all charges. However, Jackson stated he would never live at the property again as he no longer considered the ranch a home and did not return to Neverland. He stated he felt the 70 police officers had violated the property in their searches.Jackson's sister, La Toya, wrote of her experience staying at the ranch during her brothers trial in her 2012 memoir Starting Over.In 2006, the facilities were closed and most of the staff were dismissed, with a spokesperson stating that this was the reflection of the fact that Jackson no longer lived there.

SUMMARY
=======
John Charles Frémont or Fremont (January 21, 1813 – July 13, 1890) was an American explorer, politician, and soldier who, in 1856, became the first candidate of the Republican Party for the office of President of the United States. During the 1840s, when he led five expeditions into the American West, that era's penny press and admiring historians accorded Frémont the sobriquet The Pathfinder.During the Mexican–American War, Frémont, a major in the U.S. Army, took control of California from the California Republic in 1846. Frémont was convicted in court-martial for mutiny and insubordination over a conflict of who was the rightful military governor of California. After his sentence was commuted and he was reinstated by President Polk, Frémont resigned from the Army. Frémont led a private fourth expedition, which cost ten lives, seeking a rail route over the mountains around the 38th parallel in the winter of 1849. Afterwards, Frémont settled in California at Monterey while buying cheap land in the Sierra foothills. When gold was found on his Mariposa ranch, Frémont became a wealthy man during the California Gold Rush, but he was soon bogged down with lawsuits over land claims, between the dispossession of various land owners during the Mexican–American War and the explosion of Forty-Niners immigrating during the Rush. These cases were settled by the U.S. Supreme Court allowing Frémont to keep his property. Frémont's fifth and final privately funded expedition, between 1853 and 1854, surveyed a route for a transcontinental railroad. Frémont became one of the first two U.S. senators elected from the new state of California in 1850. Frémont was the first presidential candidate of the new Republican Party, carrying most of the North. He lost the 1856 presidential election to Democrat James Buchanan when Know Nothings split the vote. Democrats warned that his election would lead to civil war.During the American Civil War, he was given command of Department of the West by President Abraham Lincoln. Although Frémont had successes during his brief tenure as Commander of the Western Armies, he ran his department autocratically, and made hasty decisions without consulting Washington D.C. or President Lincoln. After Frémont's emancipation edict that freed slaves in his district, he was relieved of his command by President Lincoln for insubordination. In 1861, Frémont was the first commanding Union general who recognized in Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant an iron will to fight and promoted him commander at the strategic base near Cairo, Illinois. Defeating the Confederates at Springfield, Frémont was the only Union General in the West to have a Union victory for 1861. After a brief service tenure in the Mountain Department in 1862, Frémont resided in New York, retiring from the Army in 1864. The same year Frémont was a presidential candidate for the Radical Democracy Party, but he resigned before the election. After the Civil War, Frémont's wealth declined after investing heavily and purchasing an unsuccessful Pacific Railroad in 1866, and lost much of his wealth during the Panic of 1873. Frémont served as Governor of Arizona from 1878 to 1881 appointed by President Rutherford B. Hayes. Frémont retired from politics and died destitute in New York City in 1890.
Historians portray Frémont as controversial, impetuous, and contradictory. Some scholars regard him as a military hero of significant accomplishment, while others view him as a failure who repeatedly defeated his own best purposes. The keys to Frémont's character and personality may lie in his being born illegitimately, his ambitious drive for success, self-justification, and passive-aggressive behavior. Frémont's published reports and maps produced from his explorations significantly contributed to massive American emigration overland into the West starting in the 1840s. In June 1846 ...
