Merritt St to Mountain Locks via Ball Ave West St Catharines to Thorold Ontario Canada
twitter.com/theideagirl
I was wandering around the trails of the mountain locks when I crossed over a bridge and found out that ball ave west cuts right over to this dirt hiking trail.
It's good because there's no buses going up those streets at the base of the escarpment. We usually start all the way from Glenridge Ave across from the sobeys grocery store. (you can park at the base of the trail along side of the street if you have a car) If your a pedestrian, hiker or biker, and your coming too or from thorold (after visiting the welland canal parkway) you can cut over to the older welland canal locks (first and second) and see where they originated close to front st, thorold and went from there all the way to port dalhousie, ontario canada.
No shops, restaurants or bathrooms on this trail, so make sure you make a pitstop down on glenridge ave by sobeys, pen centre, or canadian tire plaza at burleigh hill.
up in thorold there's the keefer mansion, you can go for a lovely gourmet lunch (you will spend around $15 to $20, with an alcoholic drink $30 and up)
unique sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts along with wine and mixed drinks, also an inn with big rooms and lots of romance and ambiance here.
if you go up pine street there's grocery stores, restaurants, and shops, which is one street east of the trails. about 5 minutes from the top of the trail where it meets st davids rd.
continue up ormond street to pizza, tim hortons and sub shops, further up the road is a 7 eleven, banks, night clubs and parks.
if you cut over to the left and go towards the welland canal you will find lock 7 museum and kissing rock

Mountain Locks Park
Hidden away in a not-so-secret corner of St. Catharines is Mountain Locks Park, an area where the First and Second Welland Canals flowed over one hundred years ago.
The stone locks of the Second Welland Canal are still visible at Mountain Locks Park and the keen eye will spot the lock numbers engraved into the canal walls.

Mountain Biking at Short Hills [St. Catharines, ON] The Black Walnut Trail
Out on a Mountain Bike ride in St. Catharines, Ontario, I caught some nice light before dinner. I ended up rushing home for steak on the Barbie so this one is pretty short! St. Catharines is about an hour outside of Toronto.
This one is from the summer of 2017 that I didn't post earlier because I wasn't happy with the length. But, I'm posting it now because why not.

Niagara Segway - Destination Niagara Falls
Niagara Segway's main location is at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre at 1932 Welland Canals Parkway. This location also hosts the viewing deck at Lock 3 where the ships traverse around the mighty Niagara falls as they travel up bound to the Upper Great Lakes or down to the St. Lawrence River.
This location features 3 carefully planned Segway tours that include full training and safety helmets. After approximately 15 minutes training we venture out on a guided tour along the picturesque Welland Canal traveling on a 2.5 meter wide paved pathway stopping at strategic points for picture taking opportunities and discussions on the history of the canals.

my favorite song!
I dedicate this song to the love of my life, Harry. He's stood by me for the past five years and helped me get through some very tough times, physical, spiritual, financial and with the loss of both my parents, he's been my rock...

華盛頓湖運河水閘門(Lake Washington Ship Canal).MOV
