Pahalgaon Holidays in Kashmir
Gulmargs legendary beauty, prime location and proximity to Srinagar naturally make it one of the premier hill resorts in the country, in addition to Pahalgam and to some extend Sonamarg in Kashmir.
While Gulmarg is an all-weather resort with refreshing summer meadows and pastoral scenes to keep the camera busy, the main reason to come here, at least in winter, is the off-piste, deep-powder, long-run skiing and snowboarding.

Guide to Kashmir and the Himalaya
Wild Frontiers' Jonny Bealby presents the highlights of the Kashmir and Himalayas region of India in this guide to northern India.
Comprising a region north of the Ganges flood plains, to the east of Nepal, over the foothills and high mountain passes all the way to the former Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh and the fabled earthly paradise Kashmir, the Himalayas represents the least populated and arguably most beautiful region of all India. So, what are the main highlights?
Well, heading out of Delhi the first place you'll probably come to is Shilma, former summer capital to the British Raj echoing the history of that era, before moving on to Dharamsala, the home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans in Exile. Close to here there are some wonderful walking trips to do staying with local villages in their authentic but comfortably converted homes.
Further north is an old favourite of the hippy era, Manali, which is the last town before the high passes, some at over 5,000m that will quite literally take your breath away, lead you to Ladakh.
Sandwiched between the vast ranges of the Karakoram and Himalayas, Ladakh is the highest, most remote and least populated region in the country. Formerly a part of Tibet, it's a Buddhist state, home to some extraordinary landscapes, some stunning architecture, great walking and fascinating people.
And finally we move on to Kashmir -- where I am now. As one of the oldest tourist destinations in the world -- a place favoured by Moghul emperors, British memsahibs and 60s hippies -- the beauty of the Vale of Kashmir has had poets waxing lyrical for millennia... And for good reason. Famed for its cool, clear summer air, its alpine meadows and its tranquil lakes Kashmir is a region like no other. Throw in the quirky and atmospheric wooden houseboats and the lifting of the British Foreign Office advice against travel here in November 2012, and you have everything you need for a unique adventure holiday destination.
We have a number of group tours that take in these regions: A Journey to Ladakh -- takes you on a mega road journey to the Buddhist mountain kingdom; Hill Stations to Kashmir, which will show you some of the interesting hill stations on your way to Kashmir. Or our ever popular High Road to Kashmir that connects Ladakh with Kashmir. And of course, back in our offices in London and Delhi, we have specialist travel planners that know all these places inside out waiting to help you create the most perfect tailor-made experience.
So if you'd like your holiday to come with stunning views, mountain lakes, forest temples and ancient shrines, a myriad cultures and creeds, excellent cuisine and some very good shopping, then look no further than the intoxicating Kashmir Himalayan region of India.

Stok Kangri Trek | Khardungla Pass | Nubra Valley | EP-02 | Himalayan Boys
|| Incredible Ladakh ||
DAY 4:- Next Moring after having breakfast we started our trek towards Base Camp(5100 mtrs altitude) which is 2.5 Km from Manokarma. We reached the base camp in the afternoon and had our lunch. After having lunch we moved to our camps. Suddenly one of my friend got sick due lack of oxygen showing severe symptoms. Luckily a Doctor was available there at the Base Camp who suggested to move him down. After which he went down to Manokarma along with our porter there he got some relief which we got to know next day . After he went down rain started heavily which turned into hailstorm then turned into snow fall. As per the plan we had to leave the base camp in the night to reach the peak in time but unfortunately due to heavy snow fall and crazy weather we couldn’t able to do so and nobody else also. With this weather the season for Stok Kangri was called off and we had to drop the plan for the next time.
DAY FIVE :- Then after having breakfast with heavy heart we decided to move back to leh. We met our one friend at Manokarma and in same day we reached leh from Base Camp. Then next we arranged our super awesome Roadtrip from sweet lady in the leh market late in the night with the reasonable rates. After having a dinner in the market we went to our hotel which we again booked on Go IbIbo App in same day.
DAY SIX :- Next day we got up early in the morning and with partial advance payment, we started our Roadtrip from Leh to Khardungla Pass - 40km (World’s Highest Motorable Road) with Very Nice Driver . When we reached Khardungla Pass it was also snowing there, bad road around khardungla and some traffic also. But we enjoyed every bit of our Khardingla Pass moments as it was truly magical. From Khadungla Pass to Hunder, Nubra Valley- 86Km , we reached in the evening at Yourdum Guest House ,Hunder, Nubra Valley. I must say this is one of the most beautiful property one can find in Nubra Valley.
About Stok Kangri Trek :- It is easy trek till Base Camp if you are acclimatized. One can easily find food and stay options at Manokarma & Base Camp. I would suggets don’t book through any agency, go and find local guide he will arrange everything with the lesser charge and can help you also at higher altitude.
I have always admired Ladakh for its landscape beauty and diversity but after going there, I think its way beyond that as it surprises us with every moment we spent in the Land of Lama.
It was not only life time memorable journey and experience but it will also continue to motivate and inspire us for more exploring of such places for long time.

Kinner Kailash Yatra Trek - Complete Journey
Kinner Kailash Yatra Trek - Complete Journey
The Kinnaur Kailash (locally known as Kinner Kailash) is a mountain in the Kinnaur district of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh. The elevation of the Shiv Lingam is 4640 meters from sea level and is considered as sacred by both Hindu and Buddhist Kinnauris. This mountain is sometimes confused with the Mount Kailash in Tibet. Shivlingam is a 79 feet high and 30/40 feet wide vertical rock in the Kinner Kailash mountain range.
Hindu Mythology states that Lord Shiva conducted a meeting of Goddesses and Gods at Kinner Kailash peak every winter. This accounts for the Yatra that takes place every year during this time by devotees of Lord Shiva and local deities.

Mohand Marg’- Place of Aurel Stein; Anderwan Manigam locals install stone in memory
Written by Mudasir Rashid
Aurel Stein even expressed a desire that he were “cremated” in his beloved Marg but his wish was never fulfilled unfortunately it proved his last. Stein died in Kabul of massive heart attack in 1943 at the age of 81
GANDERBAL: Mohand Marg, known colloquially in Kashmiri as Marg of Relaxant is a meadow ground that lies ensconced in the mountains about 20 Kilometres along the road to Ladhak in north of Srinagar. From the road to Leh near Manigam in Ganderbal district. Marg in Kashmiri is meadow. Nestled in the snow-capped mountains of Harmukh in Sind valley below the Neela lake of Harmukh so called Gangabal. Girdled by massive snow peaked mountains skirted by pine trees the meadow gets filled with flowers in the summer season.
Intense wanderlust fire earned him the name of a nomad. And Nomad of Mohand Marg he was called by the locals with whom he lived in this meadow for about 40 years. Budapest born, Aurel Stein, a naturalized British citizen chose Kashmir as his home, once located Stein fell in love with the spot. The Marg gave Stein reassurance of timeless and unchanging strengths and throughout his life prided himself on his unfettered life there in a tent.
Mohand Marg held the unique charms and keys to his inner and outer life. So fascinated was he with this remote mountain site that he called it as ‘my own’ or ‘my kingdom’. The Marg was his true and spiritual home. For him it was a site from the paradise, and he always longed to return to the spot. Here he enjoyed the breathtaking views and breathed the pine-scented air which he called as “the avalanche perfume” The magic of the place effected him so strongly that in spite of being a loner he never ever felt lonely here and would recall. He even sometimes used week health as a reason why he should return to Marg from wherever he was and always on move for about 56 years in wild till his last breath. Here, he translated the Rajtarangni into, English and prepared its first Sanskrit edition. Stein learned Kashmiri. Wrote Kashmiri fables from the mouth of Halim Tilwon.
Kashmir's past is full of extraordinary personalities who not only because of its achievements but also because of its lash greenery Nazara Janat Ka feeling of paradise. Scores of personalities including Aurel Stein visit here from time to time and on 8 June 1888 till the last when Stein left Kashmir for the last time in April 1943, he fell in love with Kashmiri's meadows one so called Mohand Marag.
The meadow made him fascinated by the beauty of carpet the flowers made of mountains slopes of meadow with shades of deep yellow and dark blue with sparing whites. Stein character and work has had an enriching effect not only on Kashmir but also on the world of science and universal knowledge and have earned international respect as a result. One such name is that of Sir Marc Aurel Stein. His name is linked forever with the silk road of Central Asia one of the great romantic and evocative images of the east. Explorer archaeologist and geographer Stein is always acknowledged immediately but a Sanskritist seldom perhaps never.
Even though Aurel Stein was the first among Europeans to understand the ethos of Kashmir's culture and recognize the value of its contribution to the history of world culture yet his biographers have given only scanty accounts of his life and labours in Kashmir. What the reader is now holding is not a biography of Sir Aurel Stein nor is it a book on Kashmir history. In fairness it may be considered a memoir to Sir Aurel Stein's Kashmir life. It is a homage to his achievements as Sanskrit scholar and his relations with his adopted home Kashmir and its native scholars. The book is a comprehensive research document which obliterates the gulf of time
