Lakeside Camping in Buffalo Wyoming + Fiber Fun at the Mountain Meadow Wool Mill
On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave Casper and head up to a first come first served campground near Buffalo Wyoming. We find a great spot that requires us backing up a hill but totally worth it. Once there and setup we head into Buffalo for an awesome wool tour at Mountain Meadow Wool. We highly recommend taking the $5 tour to see how yarn is made, learn about a different kind of sheep and more. Courtney, being a knitter, totally geeked out. Afterward, we walked around historic downtown Buffalo, had a drink at the Occidental Saloon and then headed back to our awesome lakeside spot for happy hour and dinner.

Mountain Meadow Wool Mill - Buffalo 6-30-09
U.S. Senator Mike Enzi toured the Mountain Meadow Wool Mill in Buffalo, Wyoming on June 30. Enzi was able to see firsthand how the mill takes wool grown from Wyoming sheep and turns it into extraordinary roving and yarns. Wyoming is the second largest producer of wool in the U.S. and sheep ranching's roots run deep in the state. Wyoming sheep have adapted to the extreme climate and their fiber is incredibly soft and fine.
Mountain Meadow Wool was started in 2002 by two women who wanted to keep the rural sheepherder tradition alive in Wyoming. They were concerned about the lose of this way of life with many sheep ranches closing down. The ladies took action and turned the challenges into an opportunity - they now have a working mill that creates beautiful yarn and returns 10% of each sale to the ranchers that provide the wool.
You can buy Mountain Meadow Wool products on-line as well as in Casper, Sheridan and Gillette. mountainmeadowwool.com

Sheridan
Sheridan Wyoming sits just north of our headquarters in Buffalo and is close to the Montana border. Sheridan has a lively downtown which welcomes all and the wide-open spaces and dramatic mountain views make this a place like no other.
A cowboy hitches its horse outside The Mint (the oldest saloon in the state) and checks his revolver at the door. If you listen you can hear the boot spurs clicking in the room and sitting at the piano in the corner, a lovely gal with a wrap knit with MMW“Sheridan” 3ply bulky to keep off the winter chill. Insert hyperlink to wraps
We named this yarn “Sheridan” because it is a good yarn for the north and we loved the yarn’s bounce and feel. Nothing too fancy just good old-fashioned comfort and like the town, you feel at home.
Spun into a 3-ply bulky weight yarn featuring a higher twist coupled with true Mountain Merino® softness. Sheridan has a springy, substantial feel and it will delight your hands as you knit or crochet. In the northern mountain foothills of Wyoming this yarn brings thoughts of outdoor winter adventures wearing a cozy hat or sweater. Available in a range of hand-dyed colors and also in our natural cream. Be sure to also look at our Natural Grays Bulky. This is the same yarn as “Sheridan” but done as a combed yarn for a smooth finish and is available in light, medium and dark gray.

Riding a Wagon Across the River at the National Historic Trails Center
On this Airstream Life vLog, we head to the National Historic Trails Center in Casper Wyoming. This is a free museum run by the BLM. It was a great stop! The artwork was beautiful, the exhibits taught us a lot, and there was a lot of interactive information which we love! I got to ride a covered wagon across the river, luckily I made it safely across ;) Afterward, we headed into downtown Casper to try and catch an event at Davis Street Station. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the movie we had planned, but it was still a fun evening exploring the city.

Checking Out the Woodchoppers Jamboree in Encampment Wyoming
On this Airstream Life vLog, we show you how we place our solar lights under the Airstream to prevent mice (and Steve did not jinx us...still no mice). Then we head to the Woodchoppers Jamboree in Encampment Wyoming. It was an awesome event! We got to see a bunch of wood chopping events including a 2 handed saw team event. There was a barbecue and then a rodeo! Add the cool small town charm and the events for the kids (such as the grease pole) and we had a blast!
