Iao Valley State Park, Maui Hawaii | West Maui Mountains | Iao Needle
Our second stop day one after our great visit to Maui Tropical Plantation, was a nice ride into the West Maui Mountains and a stop at Iao Valley State park. A short stair hike up to the viewing area for the Iao Needle. What a gorgeous view and lush landscape with waterfalls and majestic mountains. Kris said she felt like we were in Jurassic Park..

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters - Aerial introduction to the island of Maui
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Year after year, readers of the top international travel magazines vote Maui The World's Best Island, in large part because Maui boasts sights that satisfy the most demanding adventurers. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was founded on Maui in 1985, and no one knows Maui better than Blue. In this video you'll see just a few of this amazing island's incomparable sights as only Blue can show them to you: the razor-like cliffs and cascading waterfalls of the West Maui Mountains, monumental Haleakala Crater, the lush emerald Hana Rainforest, historic Iao Needle, and more.
You can see all of this plus much more of the best aerial footage of each of the Hawaiian Islands on our video production 'Visions of Hawaii'. You can order this BluRay video from our e-store on our website listed above. Music is provided by:
Artist: Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom

THE BLUE HAWAIIAN DIFFERENCE There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii's #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA's coveted Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award every year since 1998. No other helicopter tour company in Hawaii has ever received this critical recognition. Blue Hawaiian was honored by the FAA for its record 12th straight year in January, 2009, at a ceremony in Honolulu, and the FAA further honored Blue Hawaiian with the very first Certificate of Excellence, Platinum Award. And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.
Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. That means wherever you go in the Islands of Aloha, you know exactly how to get the world's finest aerial tours: just remember the color of the sky.
We don't just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional synthetic vision terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.
The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and every one of them is a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. Blue Hawaiian is also the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.

Air Maui Helicopter Tour ( West Maui and Molokai)
This video does it no justice. Our pilot (Troy) was awesome and didn’t talk too much which allowed us to take in the views. Troy has created a playlist you listen to the whole flight which made for an even better experience. Highly recommend this if you go to Hawaii.
Couldn’t use any of his songs due to copy write.

maui hwy 340 north island
Maui: Hwy 340 around the north tip of the island. The State Hwy30 ends and the road turns into a single lane dirt road which follows the terrain. The road is cut into the mountainside. There are few pullouts and you have to wait for opposing traffic to pass before you can continue. The side closest to the cliff is better than the embankment side so we drove in a clockwise direction. We did not know that rental cars are not allowed to navigate this road.

West Maui
Recorded January 22, 2004. On my last day in Maui I explored the west side of the island. The video follows my steps as I visit Front Street in Lahaina, the resort area along Kaanapali Beach, the isolated cliffs of Maui's north shore and the Old Kahakuloa Village.

driver's view HI St. Hy. 37 south from Hy. 36 to Maui Wine, Ulupalakua, Maui, Hawaii (2 of 2)
This is part 2 of 2 showing the driver's point of view of Hawaii St. Hy. 37 going south from its junction with Hy. 36 near Kahului all the way down to the Maui Wine vineyards in Ulupalakua, Maui. The date is Sunday afternoon January 15, 2017. We are in a rented brand new 2017 Toyota Corolla which impressed us with its quietness and smoothness of both the ride and the engine, especially at idle. You could barely tell it was a 4 cylinder.
Should I drive Highway 340 on Maui?
If you're thinking about driving Highway 340 that loops from Kapalua to Kahului, this video may help you decide if you're up for it. There have been accidents and deaths on this road and there are many spots that it's one lane for a good, long stretch. We'll give you tips on what to consider if driving this Maui route is on your bucket list.

Driving Wild One Lane Kahekili Highway 340 on Maui Hawaii
Drove around the West Maui Mountains from Kihei to Kahului. Turns from beautiful beach level views to awesome sea cliffs. After Mokolea Point the road turns into one lane and almost 360 turns. You'll be advised that you are driving it at your own risk. The road itself was in great shape. A local told me to just take it slow and honk before the corners. I would highly recommend having some one with you to spot ahead while you're driving, especially if it's your first time. M was my eagle eyed navigator and camerawoman, and I salute her. Opaka paka!!! :)
Near the middle of the video we drive through the village of Kahakuloa. By the end of the one lane section my hands were sore from gripping the steering wheel. I saw a pile a wrecked vehicles which I presume were those that didn't make it to the end.
I have video from my helicopter flight of the road and cliffs from above that is also posted.
