Grand Junction SUP Colorado River
We rented all all equipment from Elizabeth at GJ SUP for a solo trip on the river. It took us between three and a half to four hours to complete the section of river she suggested. It was great fun and gave us a workout that showed up the next day with a nice feeling in our entire bodies!!! My camera battery went out half way through the trip, so some of the best rapids were not captured. I guess we will be coming back!
GJ SUP picked us up down stream and took us up stream for the drop-in. Once done, Elizabeth showed up 10 minutes after I called and picked up all the equipment. Fun activity that we will do again!

Ep. 93: Winter RV Camping & Skiing | Utah travel Deer Valley
With warmer spring days and spring nights that are still quite cold, we bring our RV travel trailer to winter camp amongst three feet of snow at Jordanelle State Park and ski at the adjacent Deer Valley Resort near Park City in Utah's Wasatch Mountains. It's boondocking only, as Jordanelle's campground is still closed for the winter, but you can't beat this location if you're a skier heading to Deer Valley.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

ERNEST SCHWIEBERT
Ernest Schwiebert was a renowned fly-fishing authority, an influential writer, and one of the sport's finest spokesmen.
Ernie was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and at the age of five, on a family vacation in Michigan, he caught his first brook trout on the Pere Marquette River. When he was six years old he saw a fly fisherman wading a stream, sweeping line in graceful loops over the water, and that was the beginning of his trout fixation. A year later he received a fly rod for his birthday, and by the age of 10 he was tying his own flies. In his early teens he sought out top fly tiers and casters, anxious to advance his skills, and by 16 he had begun collecting and cataloguing stream insects. When his father was appointed an adviser to U.S. forces in Germany following World War II, Ernie spent two years overseas, fishing the legendary streams of Bavaria and Austria.
Upon his return to the U.S. he enrolled in Ohio State University, where he earned a BA in Architecture. Ernie was a 24-year-old college senior in 1955 when he published his book Matching the Hatch. It was the first angler's guide to both eastern and western mayflies, and in it he advised making artificial flies in imitation of just-hatched insect nymphs that swim at the water's surface. Detailed artwork of the insects, a review of the history of fly fishing, and thoughts on angling ethics also were included. The book became a classic, and matching the hatch became an integral part of the sport.
Following graduation, Schwiebert was part of the architectural team that planned and built the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. By 1966 he had received dual Ph.D. degrees in fine arts in architecture and planning, and in philosophy in the history of architecture, from Princeton University. For 15 years he worked for a New York firm where he became an award-winning architect and urban planner of airports and military bases. Business took him to places like Chile, Tibet and Malaysia, and with the fly rod that always accompanied him he fished some of the world's great trout and salmon streams. He traveled to South America for the first time in 1959 and was a pioneer of trout fishing there, and later Atlantic salmon fishing on Russia's Kola Peninsula. When Ernie decided in 1977 that he'd just rather be fishing, he left the firm.
Meanwhile he had continued writing. In 1973 his acclaimed title Nymphs appeared, and in 1978 the monumental, two-volume book Trout. Ernie had spent 17 years in the planning and writing of the 1,745-page, seven-pound reference work. Filled with hundreds of his own illustrations, it is considered by many to be his masterpiece. He authored more than a dozen books about fly fishing and architecture, including three collections of short stories, and his articles appeared in Fly Fisherman, Field & Steam, Sports Afield, Esquire, and The New York Times.
Ernie Schwiebert was a pioneer in the fishery conservation movement. He was one of the founders of Trout Unlimited (a New Jersey chapter of TU bears his name), the Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, and the Federation of Fly Fishers, and he served as Director of the Atlantic Salmon Federation and on the scientific board of The Nature Conservancy. He championed the release of fish, saying trout were gentlemen, and The angler does not need a dead trout in his basket to feel satisfaction. His numerous awards and honors include the Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects, the 1978 Arnold Gingrich Literary Prize (Federation of Flyfishers), and the 1994 Aldo Starker Leopold Memorial Award (International Wild Trout Symposium).
Ernie remained a student of the art and science of fly fishing his entire life. He was a talented artist and photographer, an eloquent speaker, an innovative fly tier, a fascinating storyteller -- all of which resonated with his passion for the sport. His knowledge of salmonids, and the challenge of catching them, is legendary. And he was considered one of the best at describing the beauty of the places where trout and salmon live, and at evoking memories of days gone by.
Ernie Schwiebert singlehandedly changed the way fly fishermen think, and the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame honors him.
