Moyenne is a tiny island located in the Sainte Anne Marine Park, off the north-east coast of Mahé. On the island there are no humans, only free-roaming giant tortoises and other local animal species. The island enjoys the status of national park and has a rich, fascinating history; swimming and snorkelling conditions are excellent as well. You can easily reach Moyenne Island with an excursion from Mahé.

Moyenne Island Trip
Moyenne Island was part of Sainte Anne Marine National Park, nowadays it is a separate National Park
Abandoned from 1915 until purchased by Brendon Grimshaw a newspaper editor from England for 8.000 British pounds in 1962
Since the purchase, he planted 16 thousands trees and built 4.8km of nature path. 120 giant tortoises roam free on the island, Desmond - the oldest, is 76 years old.
Brendon passed away in July 2012 and he is buried here on the island, next to his father and 2 pirates.

Overall the trip was extremely fun and i would definitely go back to Seychelles Again.

Sailing to Moyenne Island - Seychelles
Day trip from Mahé to Moyenne Island on a big catamaran of Creole travel services. We did a walk around the island followed by some snorkling on a reef near our anchorage. After a lovely BBQ it was time to set sail. After a tour sailing around Saint Anne we arived at our second anchorage and went snorkling again.

We visited Moyenne Island during our media trip to the Seychelles with Rooi Rose, Sunday Times Travel and Media24. A small island close to Sainte Anne, the island is used for day excursions from the main island of Mahé.

Breakfast at Coral Strand Hotel, Beau Vallon beach, and an awesome day trip to Moyenne Island on Teddy's Glass Bottom boat. Special thanks to the Stephan, Daniel and Joshua who made our experience unforgettable and were the best guides. I highly recommend this trip! We ended the day at the Regatta festival in Beau Vallon where I had lots of fun!

Info on scuba diving joins Masons Travel for a reef safari around the national park of the Seychelles and also visits Moyenne Island which until recently was owned by Yorkshireman Brendan Grimshaw who passed away in 2012 leaving the island to the Seychelles nation in perpetuity as a National Park.
