Salzburg, on Mozart bridge
Splendid history, beautiful place, kindly people, music everywhere, I love Salzburg!

Filming Location - The Sound of Music - Mozart Bridge Salzburg
A quick then and now look at one of the locations used in The Sound of Music (1965) and today (2016).
It was just by accident that I realized that so many of the locations seen in the film were right here in Salzburg. The big tour bus with Sound of Music Filming Locations Tour painted on the side was a big giveaway that Salzburg was ground zero for locations used in the film. Wish I had realized this before I got here, as I would have done proper research and produced a much more extensive presentation than this one.

EXPLORING SALZBURG: The LOVE LOCKS of MAKARTSTEG BRIDGE, beautiful views all around (AUSTRIA)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the beautiful Makartsteg which is a bridge over the Salzach River in Salzburg′s city centre. It was named after the 19th century Historicist painter Hans Makart, who was born and raised in Salzburg. The Makartsteg is open for pedestrians and cyclists only.
This pedestrian bridge is a great way to travel by foot or bike between the Historic City Center and Mirabell Palace, but most people will remember it because of all the Love Locks attached to the bridge.
Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe, characterized by mountain villages, baroque architecture, Imperial history and rugged Alpine terrain. Vienna, its Danube River capital, is home to the Schönbrunn and Hofburg palaces. It has counted Mozart, Strauss and Freud among its residents. The country’s other notable regions include the northern Bohemian Forest, Traunsee Lake and eastern hillside vineyards.

Salzburg, Austria Walking Tour (4k ultra hd 60fps)
Don't miss our walk in Vienna, Austria. Here is the link:
We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Salzburg, Austria on June 2019.
Salzburg is situated in a level basin on both sides of the Salzach River near the northern foothills of the Alps and the Bavarian (German) border. The historic centre of the city, with its rich mix of art and architecture, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996. Salzburg is the city where W. A. Mozart was born and the shooting location for The Sound of Music. Our guided walking tour is about 3 miles (4.8 km) long, starts at Love Lock Bridge, ends at The Horse Pond and covers most attractions and historic sites of Salzburg Old Town.

Såizburg means literally Salt Castle and is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital city of the federal state of Salzburg. Salzburg's Old Town (Altstadt) has internationally renowned baroque architecture and one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The city is noted for its Alpine setting. Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the mid-20th century, the city was the setting for parts of the American musical and film The Sound of Music, which features famous landmarks in Austria. This video features views around the city of Salzburg, including the Salzach River, Mozart's house, the city streets, bridges and transport including trolley buses, passenger trains and an inter-modal freight train.

Salzburg
In Salzburg we take taxis to our deluxe hotel, the Goldener Hirsch, right in the heart of the Old Town. On this tour we did use mostly five-star hotels and there was universal agreement that the Goldener Hirsch was the favorite hotel of the tour. Salzburg is a town of castles, church towers, horse-drawn carriages and pedestrian alleys lined with appealing shops, but its sound is the divine music of favorite son Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and yes, the hills are still filled with The Sound of Music. Nestled in the Alpine foothills of north-central Austria, this cozy town and surrounding scenic areas have so much to offer that you could easily spend three enjoyable days here, especially if you venture into the lake and mountain district for day-trips. Or if you have less time, squeeze our suggestions together and you can still get a lot out of one or two days visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site, recently ranked among the worlds top 20 cities by Conde Naste and Travel & Leisure magazines.
If forced to choose only one word to depict Salzburg, it would have to be Mozart. Then as now we are talking about a city of serious music. There are always performances of various types to enjoy, but coming right up at the end of July and throughout August is the annual Salzburg Festival, one of the worlds top music events that you could still get to, if you make plans immediately. (See our listings.)
To summarize the essence of Salzburg in a nutshell: At the center of town is the Getreidegasse, a narrow pedestrian street lined with medieval-facades that shelter modern shops and which leads past Mozarts house towards the great Cathedral, a masterpiece of the Italian Baroque. Towering above it all on a hilltop is the castle that looms large over the history of this city -- and on the other side of the river you will find the ravishing flower gardens of Mirabell Palace and more sights to keep you happily occupied. You are not the only ones to hear about Salzburgs charms, however, so brace yourself for big crowds if you come in the peak season at mid-day. Follow our tips and you can avoid much of the congestion created by 7 million annual visitors.
