Mrigadayavan Palace is a Beautiful Teak Seaside Palace built by King Rama VI in 1924, located on Bang Kra Beach between Cha-Am and Hua Hin. The Palace is located on the right hand side just before Cha Am - Watch out for the signs! The Palace and Royal Grounds are an amazing venue I highly recommend visiting them. They open daily except Wednesdays at 0830 hrs until 1600 hrs with admission charge at 90 Baht. Please dress respectively and No Filming inside the palace please. Also I recommend going early to avoid the crowds and Mr Sun!

A quick tour of this beautiful beachside summer palace just 12km north of Hua Hin.
The summer palace was built in 1923 -1924 during the reign of Rama VI and is set in a beautiful garden with 18 teak buildings built on concrete stilts.
As of December 2018, it is still being renovated but is worth a visit for peaceful walks and a glimpse of 1920's royal style.

The King had this summer palace built in 1923.
Mr. Ercole Manfreddy, an Italian architect attached to the Public Works Department of the Royal Thai Government, drew up the plan in accordance with the King's sketches.

Mrigadayavan Palace is located on Bang Kra Beach in Cha-am County. It was constructed in 1923 under King Rama VI's command to be his summer palace. The palace was built from materials from the dismantled buildings of the old residence at the nearby Chao Samran Beach.

The Maruekhathaiyawan Palace which is located between Cha-Am and Hua Hin was built by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) as a Royal seaside summer retreat in the year 1923.
The King had a Palace built on Hat Chao Samran beach before Maruekhathaiyawan Palace in Hua Hin, but was unhappy with it and decided to demolish the building. The Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, facing the sea, was built from materials from the dismantled buildings of the old residence at the nearby Chao Samran Beach.
The location was convenient because Cha-Am was back then was connected to Bangkok by the rail system and the area was considered healthy with its forested area and fresh sea air.
The Palace is raised on pillars and entirely made from teak wood. Its very unique architectural style is completely different from that of the other Thai Palaces located in different parts of the country.
The original design of the Palace was done by the King himself, and an Italian architect, Ercole Manfredi was hired to finish the design.
The palace was built to be a very comfortable place with excellent ventilation and niches filled with water in the pillars to keep out ants. King Rama VI used Marukhathaiyawan or Mrigadayavan Palace, as a summer residence for him and other members of the Royal Family until his death in 1925.
Three sections make up the Palace, which is also called The Palace of Love and Hope. These are connected by long covered walkways. Two other longer covered corridors connect the Palace with the beach. One corridor extends from the King's personal living quarters and one one from the women's section of the Palace.
King Vajiravudh's personal living chambers, called Phisarn Sakorn, consists of a bedroom, a bathroom, a dressing room, a study room and a dining area. King Vajiravudh, was a great poet and wrote literature in his study overlooking the sea. He ruled Thailand from 1920 until 1925.
The King's wife, resided in the Samundra Biman section of the Palace. This section consisted of a number of rooms including a bedroom, living room, a bathroom, a dressing room as well as another corridor leading to a bathing pavilion on the beach.
Another section called the Sewakamart section was used for official functions, housed offices and also contained a theatre where dramas were performed.
A very interesting fact is that when the Royal Family would come to stay in Maruekhathaiyawan Palace for the summer, their furniture would be moved there from Bangkok with them.
After King Vajiravudh's death in 1925, the Palace was left deserted. The current King had it fully restored and you can still see some of the King's furniture like his sofa and bed and his writing desk with pencils and paper.
Maruekhathaiyawan Summer Palace is located almost halfway between Cha-Am and Hua Hin in Petchaburi province, some 10 kilometers South of Cha-Am and 15 kilometers North of Hua Hin inside the Rama VI army camp.
The Palace can be visited every day except Wednesday from 8 am until 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday until 5 pm. Admission is 60 Thai Baht per person.
The taking of photos upstairs inside the Palace is prohibited. Also please dress appropriately which means no short pants or short skirts and no sleeveless shirts. Sarong, wrap-around clothing is available that you can return upon exiting the Palace.

The Mrigadayavsn Palace (often referred to as the “Palace on the Beach”) was built by King Vajiravudh in 1925. The palace is made up of 16 buildings in 3 groups, one of men, one for women and one for gatherings and assemblies. Most of the buildings are connected in long wooden covered corridors. The vibrant yellows and blues that dominate to palace buildings make the palace stunning against the blue waters of the Thai Gulf.
The grounds have wonderful garden areas surrounding the palace area and there is often a presentation of Thai Traditional music to enjoy on your tour of the palace.

Maruekatayawan (Mrigadayavan) Palace is one of the oldest and most attractive royal palaces in Thailand. The Maruekatayawan Palace was constructed by His Majesty King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) in 1923 as a place where he could fully relax in great comfort amid a naturally serene atmosphere.
It was designed by an Italian architect with lots of verandas, latticework and covered boardwalks using golden teak from the demolished Hat Chao Samran Palace. The architectural design of the raised-floor wooden palace, with its three sections facing the sea, was drafted by the Monarch himself. Following the completion of the interior decoration in 1924, the King gave it his first visit and stay. His last visit to this seaside palace was made only a few months before his demise in 1925.
This palace is noted for three two story wooden pavilions facing the sea, and is referred to as the palace of love and hope. Series of halls are linked together throughout the palace. Residential halls of the royal consort members are located on the right wing. The central group of halls which is the royal residence consists of royal sitting and relaxing rooms, accommodations for close royal servants called Phisan Sakhon Hall, and the reading room.
In addition, Samoson Sewakamat Hall, a two-storey open pavilion, is used as a meeting place, and sometimes as a theater. Two important dramas were shown on this stage in 1941: Phra Ruang and Wiwah Phra Samut. Chao Phraya Ramrakhop ordered a statue of King Vajiravudh, as a royal dedication, to be enshrined in the hall of Marukhathaiyawan Palace. An annual rite is conducted on November 25, the anniversary of King Vajiravudh's death.
This is one of the many attractive places in Thailand that is a must to visit. This teakwood treasure (known for convenience as The Wooden Palace) stands on Hua Hin beachfront and, now restored. It is proudly billed as The Longest Golden Teak Palace in the World. This palace is only a few minutes by car from Hua Hin.

Mrigadayavan (Mareukatayawan) Palace is located in a military camp on the shores of Bang Kra between Cha-am and Hua Hin in Petchaburi province. The Royal Palace was built under the command of His Majesty King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) in 1923 as a summer palace, where he was able to completely relax in a calm atmosphere.
Construction of the entire construction of the palace made entirely of teak in the Victorian style, and consists of sixteen pavilions, which in turn are divided into three groups. All pavilions are connected with each other long verandah standing on concrete piles. The total number of posts about 1080 pieces. High ceilings and stucco on the walls all contribute to a good ventilation of the sea breeze.
Mrigadayavan Palace translated into Thai means palace of love and hope, the name is related to the Queen's pregnancy Indrasakdi Sati, King Vajiravudh hoped for the birth of an heir. Unfortunately, the Queen had a miscarriage. After the queen still bore him a daughter, Bejaratana princess, born in Phra Nang Chao Suvadhana just one day before his death in 1925.
