Rainbird Trail hiking in Ketchikan Alaska 2019
Get off the beaten track in Kethchikan, Alaska and discover the amazing Rainbird Trail. This spectacular trail is only 0.6 miles long and beginning at the southern end, it is only a 20 minute walk to the start. The views are stunning and the trail is very easy to walk. Well worth the effort while visiting Ketchikan Alaska
Driving to Mount Wrangell - By the Alaskan Highway
Mount Wrangell is a massive shield volcano located in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in southeastern Alaska, United States. The shield rises over 12,000 feet (3,700 m) above the Copper River to its southwest. Its volume is over 220 cubic miles (920 km3), making it more than twice as massive as Mount Shasta in California. It is part of the Wrangell volcanic field, which extends for more than 250 km across Southcentral Alaska into the Yukon Territory, and has an eruptive history spanning the time from Pleistocene to Holocene.
This scene was shot one evening driving towards the base of Mount Wrangell while the sun was setting down late evening close to 9PM.
N. Wrangell Alaska Spur Rd. Terminus 2013
The north Wrangell Island Alaska loop road is only about an eight of a mile from completion. Because the east side is largely undeveloped-with just logging cuts comprising most of the action and the road is just single lane and unpaved the gradual decline of the wilderness the next two decades would be interesting to note. The video captures an image of the end of the road as it is today.
It might be better if ecosphericaly advanced development occurred when plain conservation of the environment isn't politically possible, yet in civilizations political arena as in the wild kingdom nature abhors a vacuum and development tends to proceed.
Shakes Island, Wrangell, Alaska
On our 3 day cruise to Alaska we stopped off in Wrangell to check out Tyler's old stomping grounds, Shakes Island. Unfortunately, we only got to spend about 11 minutes here, but we got to see the beautiful longhouse and some of the totem poles during their restoration.
